I'm not asking if it IS gay, I'm just asking whats the first thing you'd think if you seen it. I'm pretty stylish and well groomed and was told that it's a good thing for people in business or that handle money lots to do.
If it comes across as metro-sexual thats ok tho :D
Just trying to get into the minds of a business client and their first impression.
A second question might be, (for girls) what would you think of a guy who had clear nail polish who you just started talking with and how would that affect your opinion on him, good or bad?
Thanks!

Alright, I think i've decided to just go for "buffing" whatever that is. The important thing with a client is to try and subtley impress them and not make a statement which forces them to pass a judgement, so I believe in that respect it's not a good idea as there is a lot of mixed replies.
I'm still undecided about how it would affect girls, but I think giving the appearance of a really well groomed nail is the best best, and buffing and clear nail polish both achieve that effect.
With clear nail polish it's easier to notice and therefor can cause people to have an opinion either way.
I think understated seems the best bet for me, thanks for all your help. I'd still like to hear more girls opinions on well taken care of hands/nails in general though :D

During the years when I performed I often applied clear nail polish, only on my right hand fingers, because of my style of guitar playing, which is called fingerstyle playing. I would do that solely for strengthening the hardness of the nails because many of my numbers were of the Flamenco genre.
When playing Flamenco, the guitarist would fan or flail his fingernails down and up the strings too fast for the human eye to register.
No one dared to think I was homosexual.

Well, it kind of depends on the rest of the guy's appearance, and on how he acts and talks. I wouldn't assume homosexuality, but I don't really believe in metrosexual. There are vain men and there are earthy men, just like there are vain or earthy women. I might think a male business person (who was otherwise utterly conformist with no clues of style to suggest "stereotypically gay") with clear nail polish on was just a vain man. If he were, say, a bank teller counting out money to me, I might barely notice it in passing and not even make a judgment.
In general I admit, I'm probably a victim of the mainstream assumption that vanity in men is a sign of deeper personality problems and/or homosexuality. My gut reaction to the idea of a guy in nail polish of any kind is, to be honest, negative. However, I wouldn't be totally put off or judgmental over such a tiny detail on its own. If he was otherwise attractive, it might make me a bit curious, actually.
Edited to add: I agree with the answerer who suggests buffing instead. It looks more like conscientious grooming and less like vanity.

If I seen a guy with clear polish I would think either he is way too into himself & obsessed with looks or that he is gay. It's good to have nice hands/nails, ya know not all dirty & over grown, put the polish is not necessary.

I think it's fine and I don't believe it to be a gay thing at all. I think if the nails are clean and trimmed they'd look nice with a coat of clear polish. Do it!!!

My dad has worn clear nail polish since i was a child. He wears it to keep his nails from looking dull is what he told me.I don't think there is anything wrong with a man wearing clear polish if he wants his nails to be neat and/or groomed. Now if it had color to it,that would be different. It should not affect how you feel about someone.

ok, to me, sparkling nailpolish could truly be gay. i think of black, or any sort of punkish looking colour could be high quality. i like it whilst adult men have black nailpolish that appears like they have had it on each and every week, like whilst it starts off to chip off. Edit: ok study you're question greater thoroughly. so which you're wearing it to look neat and sparkling? that does sound kinda gay. hmm. i'm questioning approximately a guy desirous to look truly superb. perhaps in case you should locate a manner for the nail polish to no longer be so vivid.

I perceive it to be gay. I've only seen it on 3 guys so far and 2 were gay the other was metro....which is almost as bad. Hope that helps you.

Personal opinion as a woman - Gay. And if for some reason I was convinced the guy wasn't totally gay, I'd think it was weird and maybe his significant other would have to fight him tooth and nail for the mirror. It would go beyond the realm of metro sexual into the land of creepily narcissistic.

to me clear nailpolish (which isn't really visable...) is fine to wear if u are a guy, and if u were into the whole gothic thing, u could wear black. shiny nails, are considered healthy nails, so go ahead... no one should care... and u don't have to tell anyone either if u r worried about embarassment.
and for the second question... it wouldn't affect my opinion at all....

To be honost, I would think it would be strange to see a man with clear polish. A man with perfectly groomed cuticles and clean, soft hands although is great.
