My parents were married 37 years before my dad passed away in 1985. I married at 23 and within 2 years had been beaten down until I had no self-esteem. My ex seemed to think that a woman was good for staying home, cleaning, cooking etc. I was "fat", "ugly", "didn't do anything right" and most of the time "couldn't cook worth a sh*t". Physical abuse is terrible, but bruises go away. Mental abuse can be worse becaus"e memories don't go away as easily. Actually they can shape how you feel about yourself for the rest of your life.

I have been married for 20 years in those years it got worse. Yes my parents are divorced....I thought it was the end of all ends. Now that I have been through it....... I have learned allot about my parents and myself that no matter what life continues to go on. I now have a great relationship with both of my parents which I am very grateful. My ex does not see the kids his choice, but they are thriving in an enviroment that is much better on all of us that remain in the Family Home!

I've never been married. My parents haven't divorced. And divorce has affected my life because a few months ago one of my friend's mom divorced her dad and she was so upset and cried for weeks.

It isn't worse but it isn't better this time around.
My parents divorced( no my mother divorced my father) and I have had a hard time stomaching her ever since. Trust is a huge deal for me, I have maybe three people in my life that know enough not to want to know it all.

Yes-together for 15 years, married for 10. Some ways better, some ways worse. Parents are still together.
Hard to trust again.

My ex wouldn't even buy a gallon of milk for the kids- he's an ***. He just walked out one day. We never talk. I say "It's me" he hangs up. Been like that for 12 years. My parents divorced when I was 2 weeks old. Never knew Mom. I have abandonment issues.

My parents got divorced when I was around 5. It had a huge negative impact on my life. I don't see my real dad as often as I would like. And I have a physically and emotionally abusive step dad.
