I would think that you already know you are going to molest your child before it is even born, that is why you give birth to a child. However, not all pedophiles molest their own children, but those who do probably have it in mind before they have children.
People who molest or sexually abuse others generally appear to see people as objects to use to express their own pleasures, albeit, perverse pleasures. They do not consider how it may affect the person emotionally, cognitively, or in any other human way. Despite that, they can be very charming and appear vulnerable. They use those characteristics to attract victims.
I did not read the book mentioned, but I have looked into the subject. This is my understanding so far.

oh iv wanted to read that book, my college professor recommended it.
i personally don't think it has anything to do with past experiences. because if you think about it, there happen to be allot of people in the same situation and don't have the same reactions to it. lets say, when you where younger you got raped by your father.... and you are a boy, when you get older it doesn't necessarily mean that you will rape someone else, or your son for that matter.
i know that wasn't a very good example, but it's the idea lol.
they say that the kind of person you are and the kind of things you do all come with you when you are born. an instability in your genes. like if you are suicidal, or if you are gay, and if you rape others... its all in the blood.
of course that's my opinion, but you asked for it lol.
good luck, sorry if i couldn't be of more help.
