I'm sorry, I just can not narrow any one thing down. I sat here and tried. There are just too many beautiful options: I first thought of the birth of my own children, then of my 6 grandchildren, then of Niagra Falls, then of the stars in the sky, then a flower garden, then the ocean, then trees, then the horizon, the the sun rise, then the sun set, and on and on. Nature is so full of beauty, how can a person select just one thing. Sorry, I just couldn't narrow it down to ONE.

The most beautiful thing I’ve been fortunate enough to witnessed, on my life’s journey, is an image of love.

I was celebrating my birthday at a beach resort. I decided to get a quick swim before dark; the ocean was warm and dewy. I wanted to get a relaxing spot to sit and enjoy the pleasure of the sunset that was quickly coming upon me. I found a perfect place nestled slightly above the beach under a palm tree. I could view the rocky beach rolling into a perfectly white sandy beach. The sky had a few thin clouds stretching across the sky like a vague runway’s to capture stars. I smelt the air and could smell the sweet saltiness of the breeze as I gazed at the horizon.

Then I spotted a small family walking below me on the rocky portion of the beach. The sky was starting its sunset showing … displaying dramatic colors of crimson’s, ginger’s, plum‘s, and pink’s dancing in the sky. As I watched the sunset, the family had stolen the show. Their silhouettes, against the glorious colors of the evening, became sharper and sharper. I could see the silhouette of the man and the woman embarrassing in an unbreakable bond with their little child squatting at their feet and examining seashells. Then the husband and wife started a beautiful kiss that took my breath away; and still the child clung near their legs fascinated with the beach around it.

As I witnessed this image of “Love” , I sat and pondered what it took for them to get there. Surely, they had to have gone on a first date … fallen in love … got married, and created a beautiful child. However, the sky reminded me that I was romanticizing the simplicity of the bond they were sharing. I came to realize that they must too have encountered many challenges to get to this perfect moment of creating a “Love” image. They most likely had disagreements, possibly trouble with the in-laws, fear of getting marriage, fear of how to accept the responsibility of becoming loving parents, troubles adjusting to late night feedings, and financial responsibilities. When I viewed this image from this point of view, I started to tear up because it made that moment so much more precious…hard work being rewarded for an instant in time, and I bore witness to this “Love”.

The most beautiful thing i've seen, and there have been many in my lifetime; is upon a misty dawn morning, i saw a Rose in full bloom, misted with dew drops...fully covered within it's velvety hue and texture.Thru this and so much more, I've seen the love and beauty of God.
