Here is what some one said on Yahoo Answers to Atheists: "They'd just be left alone with the stone cold reality of their empty and meaningless existence where everything they hope for and everything they strive for counts for nothing and where one day, they'll turn into ashes and dust and no one will ever remember they were here or even care.
Is that the sole reason most of us are theists?
but then again there are many thing for live for... Family, Friends, joy of nature...... Many people give there own meaning to life.. Does your religion define your life or your actions?
Opinions..

I dont believe in Allah Swt to give meaning to my life.

I believe in ALLAH SWT because ALLAH SWT does give meaning to my life and because there is no God but ALLAH SWT and Muhammad and the Ashab are Rasoolilahs pbuthem.

ALLAH SWT created us to worship him and all praise and worship is due to the most real and existant God ALLAH SWT lord of the words the Alameen.

Laa Illa Ha Illa ALLAH SWT Muhammadem Rasoolilah Saaws.

There is no God but ALLAH SWT and Muhammad peace be upon him is the ultimate Messenger of ALLAH SWT.

I think that our need for meaning is just one more thing that our Creator has put into our nature that points to Him, but it is not a stand-alone reason for believing in God.

You wrote "there are many things to live for ...Family, Friends, joy of nature..." But if God doesn't exist, then those things are mere feelings and have no other reality. Feelings are chemicals in the brain. Without God, the reality of those things you find most noble and most important are very similar to a drug addiction and you are a slave to it. That is very depressing.

Christianity says that somehow the love of God is in a different realm and has a reality apart from the physical reality. It is not psychology but rather a supernatural mystery.

well, i think that some ppl believe in God to give meaning to their life while others believe in God to be humble, and down to earth. it is just a matter of which way an individual wants to think. personally, i believe in God to be humble. God makes me realize that there are other ppl out there who have it much worse than me and that I should do as much as I can to help those ppl. God also makes me realize that i'm not the center of the world.

as for my own religion, i don't know. I'm a hindu, and our religion seems to be a very relaxed one...save for a few ppl.

hope this helps!

My religion which is christianity plays a major role in my life. Everything that is taught to me from my parents usually have a biblical meaning towards it. Without god, there is no meaning in life honestly.
