The two biggest factors in determining this are race and economic status. The same holds true in determining whether to even file charges and take it to court. That's my opposition to capital punishment, how unfairly it is meted out. They will give a shooter a free ride if he rats on his accomplice, who might not have even known there was going to be a shooting, but was there.

There are a couple of things that come into play when it comes to murder. One of them is intent and the other one is circumstances. There are several murder charges (1st, 2nd & 3rd degree). 1st degree is (at least in Pa.) always life or death penalty. For 3rd degree you can walk away with only 20 years. Usually 3rd degree is the charge if you were in a fight and a person dies. 2nd degree usually means that while committing one crime, someone died. You didn't mean to kill anyone, but if you weren't there for some other nefarious reason the person wouldn't of died. Bank robberies are federal raps. You will get a lot more time for a federal rap than you will for anything else. When you rob a bank you are robbing the government (FDIC).

You don't get 60 years for the robbing a bank in and of itself.
If you rob the bank at gunpoint, you may be charged with a count of armed robbery for each person in the bank, as well as fleeing from the police, etc.
Robbing a bank is also a felony that the FBI investigates, and they don't mess around.
And usually first degree murders, (premeditated) serial murders, gruesome murders, and murdering/raping children can get you a one way ticket in the lethal injection seat.

I know and I agree with you. If you kill someone then you should be killed just the way they were but suffer for a little while. If you steal or rob then your hand should be cut off.
If you molest kids then your pee pee should be cut off. I am also for the death penalty. I want to know how people get away with murder and other people do not.
The rich get treated better and the middle class and lower class get **** on. I do not believe in justice!

Well unfornately we can't standardize our judicial system. Every cases depends on the people that oversee them. It's all on human judgement. It depends mostly on who you have on the juror and the person sitting on the bench. Sometimes you'll have a llenient or jury. Laws also varied in different jurisdictions, so a lot of it is based on chances.

Circumstances in aggravation and mitigation dictate the judge's opinion, in issuing sentence.
Also, different jurisdictions have different sentencing options.
