Neptune and Pluto were discovered using mathematical arguments based on Newton's laws of gravitation and then observed near their predicted locations. Pluto is no longer considered a planet but doesn't change the history as to it's discovery.

Interesting Note: Neptune was very nearly discovered by Galileo while he was observing Jupiter on Dec. 28, 1612. He recorded Neptune as an 8th magnitude star near another genuine star in his field of view.

Have fun!
