I am a 33 year old married man, straight. I believe the biggest problem is indiscriminate breeding. By that, I mean people that should not be making babies continue to do so. They are unable or unwilling to properly provide for and raise and educate their children. This leads to higher crime rates. Higher abortion rates. Etc... A solution to this, although it will never happen, would be to screen each expectant mother. If she is unfit financially, or emotionally, the child would be given to a couple who is stable and are unable to have children themselves. That would be in a perfect world. We have the greatest freedoms in the world. Therefore, I know this is unrealistic. Plus, humans make mistakes, who would be the ones doing the evaluation? Just something for you to think about.

I agree with Dustin's answer, but if this is for a paper or something you are probably looking for answers that fit what your topic: Gay & Lesbian rights are a big political issue right now ... In my (and many others) opinion, were are taking basic liberties away from a good percentage of our citizens because of discrimination. Some of the issues attached to this are: if homosexuality is genetic/biological, the role of religion in our government, etc Abortion is another political issue that has been hot for some time. When is a fetus a person? Where do you draw the line between what one person consideres moral and the other person considers a mortal sin? STDs: America is obsessed with sex almost nonstop in our media (television/radio/print). Yet, there is still a huge stigma surrounded sexually transmitted diseases. People aren't getting the help they need because they are uneducated and/or afraid. Sexual Education in our schools: Some people think we should teach "abstinence only." Others think we should be real with kids because the ones who won't have sex for moral/religious reasons are't going to do it, but the ones who are need to know everything to be educated. Some side issues include teaching masturbation and/or non-intercourse sexual activities as options, teaching kids to be aware of non-heterosexual feelings and behavior, stds, birth control, etc

I am female, 40 and hetro. I think there are a few important sexually related issues. 1) Paedophillia and child pornography synicates. I think that this type of behaviour is wide spread and is more predominant than the average garden variety idividual wishes to think.
2) Unprotected sex especially amongst teenagers and the HIV/AIDS infection again wide spread and not enough eduaction seems to be occurring.
3) Prostitution and the debate legalised verses illegal.
4) Homosexual marriages - I am tired of the hysteria and carry on - what a consenting adults do is nobody's business

I think the most important issue is out of wedlock pregnancy, particularly in teenagers who are not emotionally or financially equipped to raise children. The tax payers foot the bill, the child often ends up in a dysfunctional home and the mother foregoes completing her education and becoming a contributing member of society. Watch the movie "Idiocracy", just the first 10 minutes.

I am a 22 year old, married, woman. I believe the biggest problem we face is sex out of wedlock. Especially with teenagers, not only b/c of teenage pregnancies, but also b/c it causes emotional problems that teenagers shouldn't have to be exposed to. Also, I would totally have to disagree with Jaree S's comments about parental screening, though I can see where he is coming from I don't think that having someone else determine what is considered "financially capable of raising kids". I have am in a good marriage and have two wonderful kids and hopefully another one soon, God willing. Yet, in someone elses point of view, I may be considered as not having enough financially to have even the two I do have. True we rent rather than own a home, and we don't have a college fund set up for our children, but I believe we have way more than enough love and faith to give our kids that is way more important than a college fund any day! We could afford more if I would choose to work like most of Americans that put "quality of life" above their kids well being, but I choose to put my children above everything else so I stay home with them. I believe it's all about priorities and that an overflowing love for your children is better than overflowing bank account for them! Who are you to decide what is a better life for kids? I believe God puts everyone with the family He does for a reason, no mistakes! Also, about the born again comment above, the reason they care about gays not marrying is because (though most of America doesn't see it) that would be the start of a total loss of the sanctity of marriage. Then, everyone would be married and sleeping with whoever, whereever...and what "world" will that leave for our kids? We need to stand up and protect what little bit of godliness which our country, whether you want to realize it or not, was based off of. It's ultimately up to you who you're gonna be with and we all face judgement on judgement day for the choices we make here on earth, but for some form of order and sanctity in marriage we do need to put some barriers on it.

incest has reached epidemic levels in the U.S and there are 250.00 abortions which take place every year.
there are more then 1.2million children born out of wed-lock then any other nation, a rape takes place every 3minutes.
there is a surplus of women exactly 7.8million more women then men in the U.S and prostitution is the the fastest growing market amongst the U.S population so much so they might have to legitimize is it in order to control and tax the wealth being produce.
in Holy Quran chapter 4(An Nisa),verses 27 to 29 God say's
(27) Allah will make the burden light for you, for man was created weak.(28) O ye who beleive squander not your wealth amongst yourselves in vanity, except it be a trade by mutaul consent, and kill not one another.lo Allah is ever merciful unto you.(29)

It's teen pregnancy. Stupid people who make babies and then refuse to give them to a couple who wants them and could love them. The poorly raise them and those kids end up getting pregnant to soon. I agree with the other guy. I know it won't happen either, but I do agree. Kids should be taken away from unfit mothers. Given a better life.

I'm 67 and I'm not gay. I think the hysteria about Gay Marriages by the drooling born agains is totally ridiculous. I see nothing wrong with committed partners solemnizing their relationship with a formal ceremony.
This whole thing is actually being fought by the Health Insurance Lobby because gay marriage would mean a non-working partner could get health benefits and the Insurance Industry doesn't want to PAY OUT those benefits... so they wrap it in a religious flag and get the born agains to carry the water on this one... and it's WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

Although I'm thoroughly in agreement with the above answer about the gov't/society being involved in adult's sex lives (that they shouldn't be), I think the most important issue that society ~should~ be concerned with and deal with is sexual molestation of children. (But this is not unique to today's society.)
