So first you would need to purchase a broadband router.

Then you would connect it like this:
-Connect Phone line to the DSL Modem
-Connect Ethernet Cable from the DSL Modem to the Routers WAN (INTERNET) Port
-Connect Ethernet Cable from the routers ethernet port to the computers ethernet port, as many computers that you want to connect that is.

You would then open a web browser on one of the computers you have connected to the router and type in the IP address of the router. Check the install guide for the router it will tell you step by step how to log into the router.

After logging into the router you will need to set it up to connect to your internet provider. Find the WAN section in the routers configuration settings and select a ISP Type. You are using DSL so your type will most likely be PPPOE. After selecting that there will be two fields opened that say Username and Password. Input the Username and Password you use to connect to your Internet Service Provider and save the settings.

The router should reboot and that is complete. You should beable to access the Internet from any computer you have connected to the router now.

Well for mine (@sbcglobal.net) the default is they have the modem setup to use PPoE, which does the actual login using like USERNAM@sbcglobal.net and then turn around use DHCP to provide an IP address for the device hooked to it, so in this case your router. So with this setup you would want to set your router to use DHCP to connect to the modem. Also the modem is going to use 192.168.0.X for its address range so make sure your router doesn't use this address range to provide IP addresses to the devices that connect to it.

It is also possible to set the DSL modem so that it is just sort of a pass through and then you setup your router to use PPoE and put in the user name and password there, but this is not the default setup.
