Does anyone still believe in the caste system in India? If so, how is it that the warrior caste wins?

Its been around a long long time! The ancient Greeks marvelled at the Indian caste system -- especially with regards to war : for those of the peasant caste were regarded as sacrosanct and inviolate in times of war.
So whereas in other lands, soldiers attacked farmers and burnt the fields (sometimes even committing genocide), amongst the Indian kingdoms the farmers and their lands were completely left alone in times of war.

It certainly kept the Indian kingdoms wealthy -- India was regarded (before the 19th and 20th century) as a land of great riches.

Although in this day and age, the caste system is very much an anacronysm.

While the caste system is officially gone in India, it still exists. It's like racism in the U.S., we just hide it. The warrior caste doesn't win in rank, but they're the ones with the real power. Really, they could take over the government, but have respect for the system.

First, it's not a 'belief', it's a system. it exists, like it or not.
Several thousand people do not like the system, and do not support it.
But in most of India, especially the Hindi Heartland, it's a decisive factor in politics.
Everybody becomes 'politically correct' and says it's bad, paying lip-service to the Constiutution, which guarantees equality. But let's face it caste still determines status, marriage, and so on.

The castes aren't meant to fight each other. The warrior caste, in any Hindu society, is supposed to do all of the fighting.

Makes the caste system a little less palatable to 'warriors', but that's the reason
