Now this will hurt pretty bad, but the relief is great. Take a tiny drill bit and drill into the nail where the blood is. The pain you are feeling is from the pressure being built up under the nail. This will release the pressure. It will bleed for a while, but a band-aid will take care of it. Make sure you sterilize the drill bit first, or go to the doctor, who will do it for about $100. Just drill slowly and you should not cause yourself any damage. I have done it many times, and have all my fingers still.

Dont worry about it. Just let it heal on its own. If the nail is totally black and blue, then the nail might fall out in the next 2 months, if its just a portion of the nail, it should go away in about a month. It stops hurting after a few days, so it wont be a problem

You most likely have bruised your thumb And there could be blood under the nail. Or not. There is most likely some swelling too. which puts pressure against the nail.

Like all of us who have done this too, time heals best... You are just going to have live with it.

Yes, it's blood under the nail. It's going to hurt for a while, too. Plus, if it's severe enough, your entire nail may actually come off. Sorry.

i dont think there is much you can do. take some anti inflamatory pill....?? You could ice it to reduce swelling today, then tomorrow use heat to get the blood flowing - which means healing.
