You know what? Maybe they can do it. Every year there is a team coming from nowhere and a team thats supposed to be "there" just dwindles and fades (Panthers anyone?). On paper, they're suppose to fail, but half the posters on here probaly said the very same thing about the Saints.
They were in a similar situation, questions at qb (remember Brees was hurt badly), two nice backs, and a one-sided defense that ended up over-achieving. Got them from last to the 'CLASS' of their division. Granted Childress is no Payton but the task can be done. Lets not forget, this is the NFL, nothing on paper is a sure thing. Even losing.

Vikings going 9-7 or better? Not with T. Jackson as your QB! If you would have drafted Brady Quinn, maybe. I bet the Vikings won't even win 5 games. There are three teams in the NFC Central that are better than the Vikings (Bears, Vikings and Lions). Yes, the Lions will beat the Vikings at least once, the Bears will beat the Vikings twice, and the Packers will beat Vikings at least once, if not twice. That's 4-5 losses just in the division. San Diego, Denver, Philly and Dallas will all be a loss. That's another 8-9 losses. Maybe Oakland gets a win vs. the Vikings. That's 10 losses. I think the Vikings are in for a tough season until they get a QB that can actually play in the NFL.

I think you may have lost this bet. First off, they have a very difficult schedule, playing the NFC East and the AFC West. Both of the these divisions boast some pretty solid teams. Second, I just don't think Tarvaris Jackson is the answer. In the games he played last year he only completed 58% of his passes for 2TD's and 4 INT's. Those numbers just won't cut it. And they still don't have anyone to catch the ball. Sydney Rice was a good draft pick but he won't come right in and make a difference. There defense is solid and I think whatever games they win will be because of the defense. But even the D has some weaknesses. Their run defense is ferocious but their pass defense is lacking and it won't be any better this year with the loss of Fred Smoot. Honestly, I don't see this team even being 8-8 this year. Sorry, but going through a rebuilding time can be tough. Good luck

We will be better...but not a playoff team until our receivers figure out how to catch the damn ball. Jackson will be fine. People need to realize he's still a rookie and is learning. He's already been working real hard in the offseason and is preparing for this season. Saying we should have taken Quinn is bullsh!t. Quinn is overrrated. Why do you think so many teams passed on him? Even the Dolphins who should have taken him, didn't want him. That's saying something.
Vikings have 2 really good runningbacks, one hell of an offensive line, a pretty solid defensive line. They need help with the receivers, the linebackers should be ok as long as everyone stays healthy, and the corners and safeties need to start attacking and stop with the 10 yard cushion BS.
Vikes will get at least 6 wins at the mininum. 8 at the most.

A big part of a lot of teams' offensive sucess was the fact that they had 2 strong running backs - Colts, SAINTS, broncos, jaguars, Patriots etc.. and with the addition of adrian peterson the vikings will have a strong backfield which is crutial in the nfl, along with a very impressive o-line and a solid defense. With all the additions they have made this off season i predict a 9-7 season.

8-8 would be a miracle for the Vikes. I hope you didn't bet much, I think you are going to lose your bet.

i think that 9-7 may be the best that they can do, but 6-8 wins would be realistic. they could either be a decent team or a terrible team, myself thinking the former being more likely. i liked their draft. adrian peterson and sydney rice are great talents. i don't think that tavaris jackson is the permanent answer at qb, but he could prove me wrong.
i don't think they will be over 9-7, but it is possible
good luck in your bet

8-8 is pretty close considering the division they are in. they picked up some free agents and drafted another rb but it will really depend on what efficiency they get out of the qb position.

I don't see them getting to .500. They have a pretty difficult schedule. They might even go a few games under .500.
