ok, so flashed my WRT54GL to dd-wrt a while back and now I'd like to block specific IP's and ranges of IP's. how do??

You would log into the DD-WRT control panel and click on the access restrictions tab across the top.

Wireless bridges should have hard coded IP addresses, in the same subnet as the primary DHCP server. Wireless bridges do not normally run DHCP, their function is to pass ALL traffic transparently between both sides, as though there was a long wire between the two. That all said, you have to configure the secondary bridge first, using hard coded IP addresses and a wired computer. Once the secondary repeater is configured as static, and working, then your laptop/PC can go back to DHCP, which it will get from the primary router. Looking at the instructions in the link, it is very clear and concise on how to set things up. Maybe you missed a step?? Steps 3,6 and 8 are the main issues, setting the right IP address on the repeater.
