I dont understand it. Alot of people assosiate the radical terrorists with the religion of Islam, becuase these terrorists HAPPEN to be muslim.
There are loads of Bhuddist and Christian and Hinu etc terrorists.
So if you need to make a statement of a religion being evil, be fair and say all of religions are evil.cos they are all alike.
EVERY religion is basicly the same, plus or minus a few stories...

I just dont get it...can any of you help me out?

I would like to take the True Muslim Challenge as posed by the notion that I don't read the Quran. In fact, I have a number of verses I'd like to point out here, as well as their context for maximum understanding.

Firstly let me start by there are not "loads of Buddhist, Christian, or Hindu terrorists". The seperated and splintered "Christian terrorists", i.e., Abortion Clinic Bombers, are wholly condemned by religions institutions the world over, and have no basis in document, text, creed, or declaration for their doings. They may be Christians, but they do not act on behalf of Christians, or "because" they're Christians.

There are no Buddhist terrorists, there are no Hindu terrorists. In fact, both of these religions have been remarkably peaceful to Islamic threats against their ability to survive on the whole.

No, not every religion is basically the same. That is a poor man's way of trying to avoid a debate.

Allow me to point out some sections of the Quran now, as promised, as I *have* read it:

"O you who believe! take not the Jews and Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guides not a people unjust." -5:51

This particular Surah is called "The Table Spread", it is the fifth in the Quran. In Arabic, it is called "Al-Ma'ida", it specifically deals with Moses, and attempts to put an Islamic spin on the Moses story, and then goes on to explain how Jews and Christians, as stated above, cannot be trusted and should be defeated.

"O you who believe! Fight the Unbelievers who gird you about, mand let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him." -9:123

Repentance, or At Tawba. It essentially abandons Quranic tradition and does not open with a praise to Allah, and instead jumps right in with the violence and the bloodshed. In fact, the entire Sura is essentially about bloodshed. Heck, it's in this Sura that we find:

"But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." 9:5

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." 9:29

See, the entire Quran is littered with more of these, I'd be happy to go on.

The other problem of course is that, while the Bible is essentially a collection of tales, the Quran is explicit instructions given to you, the reader. Nothing in there is meant to be a "tale of old" - with a handful of exceptions. Everything in there has a purpose to teach you how to be a Muslim, and cannot be passed along as a "context of fables" as in the Bible, as such dialogues simply don't occur.

It's Mohammed talking in that book directly to you, the reader, and he's telling YOU to kill unbelievers and Christians.

This, and the wake of terror that follows in Islam's wake wherever it goes, attempting to recede the world into darkness and chaos, and having ZERO contributions to the world since its inception is why Islam is considered evil.

"Whatever" Well put. I agree with most of what you said, and I am a Christian, never a KKK. We do this judging of others in groups more than just in religion. All Italians are in organized crime or Mafia, all Hispanics are illegal, all this or that. One evil person, one corrupt person does not a race, a group or a religion make that item wrong. We as a people fear the unknown. What we read or hear of many violent acts of extremist cause fear in many for they do not know the difference. Muslim are good people. Many are excitable, but that too is true in groups where there is misunderstanding. If I thought all male Christians were KKK, I would not identify myself with them, I would remain a "Christian" for all the reasons I am now, but would say I was a Christ followers or something, not Christian/KKK. Now, one area I would like for you to reconsider. Deuteronomy is a book used to establish some order to a civilized people, these are the people of God, the Israelite. God is teaching them many things, with rules and such, how he expects them to live. One of those things was purity of the race. Another that He is to be the only God before them. Two things here to consider--if you date/marry someone other than one of the people, you have mixed blood and chances are different gods. So God frowned upon that during the era of the Old Testament You took the twelfth verve out of context. He had already given a way out--by the number of witnesses so death did not have to come. But when it gets so bad, the person refuses to follow even the priest and judge and correct himself, he is to be stoned. However, now this is a very important point--just him, not others of other tribes or beliefs. The extremist of the Muslims refer to infidels--all infidels--in this case non-believer of Allah and they are to be killed. God did not say that in Deuteronomy--what he did say is one within the Israelite who fails to follow the rules is to be stoned. While I do not agree with the religion of Islam, I pray always for your right of belief, with freedom to exercise that right. God Bless

Because all the Muslims we see on TV are terrorists or teaching children to be terrorists.

Also, we never see Muslims who are utterly outraged by the images of children's shows teaching them to hate and kill Americans. We have no way of knowing that they really exist because as far as we know they quietly watch the shows with their children the way American watch Sesame Street with their kids.

What evidence do we have that this is not true. A show like the ones we have seen clips of would spark riots in the street at the TV stations who dared to air such a show. Many Americans think Muslims either agree with the terrorists who want to kill us or are even actively participating in acts of terrorism against us.

I haven't seen this year's statistics....but as of a year or two ago, well over 75% of all terrorist acts in the WORLD were done by Muslims. I do realize that it is not a universal truth, but given that reality, it's pretty easy to see how people might draw that conclusion.

Religion isn't evil...people are.

You can apply the old joke to religion as well: "Its not what you've got, its how you use it."

Too many people have hijacked religion for their own purposes and this is not limited to Muslims...Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell also made a good living off religion.

Islam is NOT a "tolerant" religion and the proof is that "if you want to change to another religion or become agnostic", you cannot. There is a huge case in Malaysia right now on this.

To change religion, this person will have to obtain a certificate of aposty and aposty is a crime in some Malaysian states...go figure.

Honor killings are not limited to Muslims, but rather to "bassakward" people living in timewarp.

Here is what I know about Islam. Countries run by Islamic courts seem to have a terrible record of human rights, specifically when it comes to women. It also seems to me that in comparison to Christian and Jewish and hindu extremists, Muslim extremists get much more community support. Also comparing people that blew up an office building, and crash jet liners to freedom fighters is like comparing serial rapists to a ladies man.

well its not islam its these people who use islam as a mirror for their activities.. as a muslim its written in islam that before judgement day it will be a huge fight between believers and non believers (mostly the jews). but thats only our beliefs but some terrorist organisations are trying to bring this situation to life they dont understand that we live in another time and people have a new thing called democracy.. i mean who can deny that a third war wont happen, i mean look wat is bush doing to muslims in iraq and afghanistan, he destroyed afghanistan for one guy. and iraq too claiming that there are nuclear weapons but thats just lying. every day people day in iraq and nobody cares, place ur self in their position wat would u. people cant go to a market afraid that a bomb will explode and turn them into minced meat. im from lebanon and the last war caused by israel deprived me from flying back to my home, im 18 years old and its really hard to get back to lebanon i have started a whole new life in germany, and u cant imagine how hard it is. israel destroyed lebanon and killed almost 1800 people for 4 soldiers, can u believe that hundreds die in iraq everyday and just for 4 soldiers a war starts. i think we know who the real terrorists are.

*one more thing about people bombing themselves:
most of the bombers dont do that for islam. most do it because they dont have anything left in their life.like a man left his house to buy some grocery and when he returned he found his whole family dead a bomd hit the building. imagine urself wat would u do??? go on with ur life like nothing happend, claiming that it was just a mistake, well that's not how things go.

*and for people pasting these koran scripts:
islam is not about slaughtering and i dunno if these scripts are even true but u did that intentionally to crucify islams reputation. these scripts mostly describe a situation of war with non believers. fight all who are against mohhamad(S): people like who drew the mohammad cartoon should be fought. but a man that has his own beliefs and not saying anything about islam why should he be fought just for having a religion other than islam well that is just liar too. people when u wanna know something about islam read and dont ask people cuz u might get it wrong.....

its been a while since i wrote something in english cuz im taking german courses nowadays. lol

You dont get it because you dont want to get it. The majority of attacks come from muslims and they are the only group that wants to impose Islamic law all over the world. Open your eyes.

I think the basic concept of any religion starts out as good. But, unfortunately, man can always find a way to use it to his own advantage, to corrupt it.
If I understand correctly, the radical leaders are promising the lesser among them heavenly rewards if they blow themselves up and take innocent lives in the process.
Will they really succeed in wiping out all those who don't believe in the same thing as they do? That would be endless.
To me, it's a form of brainwashing.

JT have you ever actually read the koran? do you actually know anything about islam? i don't think so...
if you did you would know that most of these things actually go against the beliefs of true muslims and that most muslims around the world are not fanatics...
you might as well quote the bible with an eye for an eye and say how awful that is...

there are good and bad people to be found in any country, any religion...

problem is that the media (wherever it is based) and the govts need something to 'demonise' so that in the west it is Islam and in the middle east it is USA/western ideals/christianity...

back to the question itself, terrorists are always those on the other side to 'us' , the same kind of people fighting for something 'we' belive in are called freedom fighters...
in order to take peoples thoughts away from what is actually going on, in our own countries and around the world, all govts are adept at providing scapegoats, and currently in the west the scapegoats are the muslims...
the opposite going on in some of the middle eastern countries, where the west and especially USA is portrayed as the evil ones...
