I know people who do martial arts for this very reason... although I'd suggest exercises.

First you have to find what has worked for you. So I am going to ask you, what have you done or haven't done but think would work to tone down your anger? Also know that anger is normal especially if there is a reason for you to be angry. But it can be deadly and abusive is the anger is coming out in the wrong way.

Anger is also another form of sadness. What is it that is on your mind that is really bothering you? Should you anger be disrupting your relationships (intimates, relatives, jobs etc) you may want to seek some anger management. You could contact your doctor and ask for a referral to see someone or seek out groups online.

You may even want to get a counselor and start talking it out. The resources below should be of help:

Different things work for different people.
For me ...its absolutely exercise.
The "feel good" chemicals that are released into the brain throughout 45 minutes of exercise is said to be equal to one anti-depressant, (as its that much of a mood elevator).
I can actually take my aggressions out on the treadmill, or bicycle....and just feel my stress or anger dissipate.
Try it....it works for many people.
Best wishes.

Let out a "Tarzan" yell.

Aaaaaaagha Aaaaaaaaagha Aaaaaaaaghaaaaaaaaaa!
(Followed by pounding your chest if this helps).

Breath deep.
Repeat if necessary, or until you pass out.

I write it all down in my diary. If that doesn't work, I play sports like badminton or basketball, where you can really hit something.
