we don't want to go to all the effort (and cost) of boxing, taping and labeling everything to move three minutes down the road. I'm not too worried about how many trips we have to make just want an easy way to get everything from one place to the other. THANKS!!!

Shove as much stuff as you can down in your dressers, lol, that's what I did. As for boxes, get some free ones out of a cardboard dumpster somewhere and just go by rooms and put stuff in them, doesn't even have to be neat..and just mark livingroom, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, bedroom 1, 2, etc. stuff like that, that way when you get to the new place you can just put all the boxes in the room it goes in and be done with it. I wouldn't bother with taping or doing anymore labeling than that if you're just moving a few minutes away..it's not like you're going to forget everything before then, lol. There's really not much else you can do.. but when we moved a few minutes away I just shoved everything in dressers and left with it and what ididn't fit i just threw in a box.. and we took all the furniture first.. we have moved about 5 times the past 2 yrs, and this has been the 1st easy one .. I guess I became a pro at it :)

I hope someone gives you a good answer to this, because I'm facing very much the same situation in about 6 weeks! My apartments have gone condo, and they ONLY want me to pay $330,000 to buy it <<<< insert rolling of eyes here>>>> I'm moving to one just about 0.8 miles away, and I'm with you - there HAS to be a better way than boxing everything!

Pack everything in small boxes. Round up all the neighborhood kids and give them each one box and tell them there is a bowl of ice cream waiting for them at your new residence. That used to work in my day. I think you have to promise a pair of Nike's now a days.

HD and Lowes, even U-Haul rent short trip/short term for as low as 19.95 for a specific time period. HD even has flat bed type small trucks.

Obviously ORGANIZE is a valid thought by all, and will save you time during and after the move.
