Technically there is not governor, but there is a program in the computer that started I have person experience in 1999. This is to protect the passengers from tire explosion based upon the tire design shipped with the truck. After market Chip programmers can extend the limit up to around 128..but make sure your tires are rated for this.
Good Luck

It started with the fuel injected models in about 1987. Any thing carbureted that cuts out is just hitting it top speed due to its red line. Fuel Injected Chevy's govern out at 100mph. New governer are smooth but old ones will seem like you run out of fuel. The vehicle will surge then cut out drop to 90 surge to 100 cut to 90 until you let off and cruise.

Where do these people who contribute come up with their answers?

No governor. Why do you think they added stability control to those vehicles.

Does yours?
Maybe your fuel pump is going out, or your fuel filter is plugged.
