So when I smack my wife when she turns me down for sex, that's bad?

KIDDING!!!

A man should always put his woman before himself, and hitting ANYONE is horrible. I think many women convince themselves that they "deserve" this kind of behavior. Self-esteem and past relationships often drive this type of behavior.

Well A Man That Hits A Woman Is Not A Man At All And The Only Reason The Woman Stays In The Relationship Is Because She's To Scared To Leave The Man Who Hit Her To Prevent Herself From Being Beaten Even More.

The type of man that hits a lady is someone who has no respect for her. Even if she has done something wrong, explaining is the best way to tackle the problem, hitting does not solve anything. The lady is just bound to get angry and the situation will go more out of hand.
Women should not put up with this kind of behaviour, they should either resolve it with the man (if he is willing to listen) or get some help.
Many women put up with it simply because they love the man deeply. However, nobody deserves to be treated badly. If he hits you, ask yourself, does he love you?
Lastly, hitting women is definitely not normal.

someone who is scared/insecure/has anger control issues/has been abused themselves. It can be one, all or a combination. There are other reasons, but these are the most common in people who are not diagnosed as psycho or sociopaths.

And i would like to point out as a survivor of domestic abuse coming from both a male partner and a female partner (different relationships), that this behavior is not restricted to men.

also, as a survivor, the reasons for staying in a relationship like this are much akin to the reasons for perpetrating such acts.

It takes coward to hit a lady. As for why women put up with it, I'm not sure. I know I wouldn't.

A man that has no respect for woman. He has anger and control issues.

A woman that puts up with it feel that she can't do any better. Could also be the Stockholm syndrome. Some woman are so scared of leaving for fear they will be killed.

Whatever it is, they both need help.

I don't believe in violence, except in self defense.

Therefore,

A man that believes it is acceptable to hit with a justified reason (such as self defense) AND believes in equality for women. Smack away ! Isn't that what feminism is about, equality ?

My wife has never hit me but if she did I wouldn't hit her back, she is a LADY to me. I might break some of her stuff though(and not allow it to be replaced), this would be a most effective strategy for men to apply. I have seen it applied, it works well.

First let me say that I think its wrong to hit people.. period.

Now the explanation. A man hits a woman for the same reason he hits a man.. he got pissed off and tired of her crap and just lost it. OR he's an as shole.

One without common sense. It isn't that hard not to hit someone, man or women.

XY:

Psychological profiles of "wife beaters":
* Father was a wife beater
* Raised with no male role model in a dysfunctional enviroment.
* Socially handy-capped. Never grew out of "Me, myself, & I" mentality.

XX
Why do women stay? Well, they've been "Groomed". This means that they had it great. The wife beater was special, sweet, and a great lier; aka wolf in sheep's clothing. Then the next step is to slowly separted the woman from family & friends and make they say, "What kind of woman would stay?" ... hence making her crazy, and disposable. Over time the iscolation will keep her so she'll only hear what Mr. Wolf in sheep's clothing says. This is what keeps her ... she's been emotionally beat down.
