Well, I don't know how much has changed since the Middle Ages, but St. David's Day (March 1st) was supposedly just a Welsh holiday back then. Now unless it stopped being observed by the time generally acknowledged as when Europeans started colonizing the New World, I'd have expected it would have been likely to spread (though admittedly I don't know how many Welsh actually came to settle in the New World). It does seem that it was through Irish immigration that St. Patrick's Day came to be more than just a national holiday.

But then, when's the last time you heard of a forum dedicated to St. Nicholas Day (December 6th)? While there are those who still celebrate his feast day, it doesn't seem like one that has spread quite like St. Patrick's Day has.
