First off he is a standout Notre Dame player, ND has not had a player as marketable as him for a long time. This country loves ND so everyone loves Brady Quinn. Secondly he has been compared to Tom Brady because of Charlie Weis at the helm of ND. I know if he had played for BC he would have had minimal attention though he is probably good enough to have been drafted in the first 3 rounds. If he had been at Ohio State the last few years he would have won most hsi bowl games and had much better WR's to work with. Now he goes Cleveland where he has minimal talent again, we will see how he does, I feel he is being prepared to fail... we'll see.

Quinn has great talent. He wasn't surrounded by talent at ND. Sure there were a few standouts but nothing like USC, LSU, OSU, etc. Put him in Troy Smiths place, in Linarts place, in Russel's place, and lets see his numbers. At ND his numbers surpassed all of those guys numbers. He had more TD's, more yards, and either the same, or less INT.
The media also had a hell of a lot to do with it. They saw Quinn's talent and told the world he'd be amazing. They forgot however that ND's defense was well below par, and that his offense was par if that. They also loved him because he was at Notre Dame. They are the ones that sit there and over-hype people. They are the ones that make people hate or love players.
Brady is a great QB with great potential. Whether or not he'll reach it in Cleveland in questionable though.

We can playa hate on the best paid "college team" (the fighting to stay legal Irish) in NCAA football, but no one is addressing the question. WHY does Brady Quinn suck?
The answer: He is expected to be the savior of the Browns right away, and will not get the benefit of sitting behind a super veteran NFL QB like others have done. Further, Quinn's gone to a place (windy Cleveland) and system where accuracy is important - which is NOT his strength.
Quinn will be the mighty Eskimo on the stats sheet, though of course his fans will love him dearly.

Who's the medias favorite College football team? Notre Dame! Blame it on the media! They built him up! Quinn and Russell being the best two QB's to come out of the draft this year just shows you that there wasn't all that much talent in the QB position this year! Their not Manning, thats 4 sure!

I totally agree. I am sick and tired of hearing about how great this guy is. He hasn't done anything yet and people are ready to crown him. I take that back, he has landed himself a hot girlfriend...so congratulations Brady. I just hope that she stays with him after 3 horrible years in Cleveland land him a free agent that can't sign a deal because now everyone will realize that he sucks.

Newsflash: John Beck, the QB that Miami did take is a better QB than the overrated Mr. Quinn and you will find that out.

Because he's a name. That's all, that and he was totally overhyped by ALL the sports reporters. He got hammered in the big games, he got slaughtered by OSU in 06, he got trampled by LSU this past Sugar Bowl. He is overhyped and undertalented. They only reason he got picked in the first round of the draft was that Charlie Wies called in a few favors from some friends in the Cleveland Brown's front office. Cleveland Bown's VP even said, "..we had Brady on our board, but he wasn't even in our top three choices." He will fail in the NFL.
