They have become a problem. They are an invasive species that] collect on boats and increase algal growth and bass populations to unhealthy levels. I know in Virginia (where I live) they were eradicated by using elevated levels of potassium chloride in Prince William County. I think several places have introduced chemicals means. The Great Lakes are having a problem with them too. You can look up what they are doing about them.

the problem with zebra mussels is the population growth is too fast. chlorine could killed them but not too successful. they are now using ultrasonic sound wave to repel the migration of zeba mussels.
