"This page provides potentially unsafe information to an ActiveX control. Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result, this page may not run correctly"
It's really driving me crazy. It doesn't matter what website it is i get this messege. Does anyone know how i can fix it?
Thanks

An active-X control is an executable just like any other program that you download. And just like any other downloaded program, active-X can be used for good or bad.

Some website's active-X can deliever to your computer spyware and adware, often by misleading the visitor into downloading an active-X control that the website claims is necasary for the site to "work".

Only let active-X be downloaded from reputable websites that you trust 110% and never allow any active-X control to be downloaded that is not "Signed". Always err on the side of caution when downloading or allowing the use of active-X controls.

And NEVER lower your Internet Explorer security settings in the Internet Zone below the default settings. That is "Medium" for IE-6 and "Medium-High for IE-7.

What you need to do is change your security settings here’s the help section from IE

What should I do when Internet Explorer blocks the installation of an ActiveX control?
You should always be cautious about allowing websites to run ActiveX controls on your computer. If an ActiveX control is not essential to your computer activity, try to avoid installing it.
If you are trying to decide whether to install a particular ActiveX control, ask yourself these questions:
• Do you trust the website providing the control?
Don't install an ActiveX control unless you trust the website that is providing it. Click Related Topics for information about how to decide if you can trust a website.
• Do you know what the control is for and what it will do to your computer?
The website should tell you what this ActiveX control is for and provide any special details you need to know before you install it. If this information is not available, you should not install the control.
What to do if you see the following message: This site might require the following ActiveX control: Name. From: Publisher. Click here to install.
This message appears when a webpage tries to install an ActiveX control that has a valid digital signature.
If you trust the publisher and want to install this ActiveX control on your computer, click the Information bar to install it.
What to do if you see the following message: To help protect your security, Internet Explorer stopped this site from installing an ActiveX control on your computer. Click here for options.
This message appears when a webpage tries to install an ActiveX control that you did not request and that does not have a valid digital signature.
To install the ActiveX control anyway (not recommended):
1. Click the Information bar.
2. Click Install software.

This is a rather difficult question to answer because there are quite a few controls that cover ActiveX. But go to your internet security setting and take a look around. That would be: Start/Control Panel/Internet Options, and click the Security tab.

Go to settings - control panel - environment variables (user variables - erase all) "no the system variables"; error reporting -
(disable but notify you); leave the Startup and Recovery alone;
leave the user Profile alone; Performance - "Adjust for best performance".

Internet Properties - "always the default"

I'd almost bet that your firewall needs adjusting as to permissions of your programs, executables, etcetra.

The last thing to check is:
Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Tools (DirectX Diagnostic Tool)

V-Com Fix-It Utilities 7 is probably the best program complete w/
everything to fix all your problems.
