Is there any scientific reason why apes couldn't be the offspring of some long ago human-animal "encounter"?

because the genetic flow of human development has been traced and it has been found that humans did not come from apes, nor apes from humans. they are actually branches on the genetic tree that come from a common ancestor. Not to mention, for any such "encounter" to effect the entire genetic evolution of a species, it would have to be an on going and continual situation. Natural selection and evolution are not a matter of "somewhere back there one animal schtupped another and they had a baby," but a matter of prolonged exposure and interbreeding of a fairly decently sized population.

thats preposterous. apes and humans came from a common ancestor not humans from apes or vice versa. niether humans NOR apes were around prior to the other so that could have never happened. we both branched out our seperate ways from our COMMON ANCESTOR.

I`m not sure about the apes , but I`ve met a lot of people that were certainly the products of such encounters .

No. Of course there is no proof that humans are offspring of apes either

humans came from either God or big bang theory there is also a theory/"religion" known as scientology which is garbage but it says we are aliens or whateva they are HUMANS did not evolve from apes or any other animal well maybe abraham lincoln did but he dosnt count lol but on a serious note an ape can come from humans because of the dna structure and make its kinda hard to explain but simply because its never happened but it could ONE DAY
