I am trying to nurse him everytime i feed him. He refuses me. what should i do? I know he got used up with the bottle. He doesn't want to work hard. what is the best way i can nurse him with no crying? Please suggest me. Thanks in advance.

I went through horrible mastitis too and almost completely gave up on breastfeeding and was just going to pump but I'm so glad I stuck with it. If your son is still a newborn just keep offering. Eventually it will get easier. I quit from weeks 2-4 with my son and then at 4 weeks I decided to give it another try and he Latched!! The best way to nurse him is whichever way is most comfortable for you. I would call your hospital that you delivered at or your doctor. They should be able to give you some free resources to have someone meet with you in person to help you with latching. I couldn't have done it without our support group for breastfeeding moms. Do you have flat or inverted nipples? That is a common reason babies don't want to latch. Congrats on pumping that takes a lot of dedication and is more work than breastfeeding. Your son will get it, he was born to figure it out. Good Luck!

First of all, if your baby is a newborn they should be nursing every 2 hours. When I cut back to every 4-5 hours to pump or nurse I got breast infections. To treat this I took antibiotics and applied cold cabbage leaves as compresses on my achy spots. They were great! I had to really work to train my daughter to nurse from the breast. Make sure you squeeze out a little milk and rub it across the baby's lips to condition him to look to your breasts for food, not a bottle. Try not to give any pacifiers or artificial nipples. Please refer to the La Leche League website for more breastfeeding information.

You could try the gradual approach...

You can try using breast shields, which will give your baby the same feel/sensation as the teat on a bottle. Once your baby starts taking milk through the breast shield, you can gradually remove the shield and let him get used to nursing directly.

Your little one probably won't like the change intiailly and some degree of crying will be involved. I know it's hard but it should happen if you persevere - good luck!

You will have to deal with some crying. Just tell him in no uncertain terms that he nurses now, period. He won't starve himself, he will get mad and then get over it. You need to be pumping/nursing every 2 hrs every 4-5 hrs isn't enough. Please check with your lactation consultant, WIC, the La Leche League or breastfeeding.com for more information.

Sometimes after a baby uses a bottle they don't want to work hard to suck when nursing. I would hold him to your breast, have a dropper with some expressed milk or sugar water so he knows he will get to eat, then try to latch him on. I did this with mine, gave her a little sugar water then tried to get her to nurse, and it worked. Sometimes they need a little reward to get the process started.

i replaced into no longer able to breastfeed straight away from my nipple as they are inverted and complicated to latch directly to. So i desperate to pump. Pumping is an incredible sort of artwork. half-hour to pupm the perfect breast then half-hour to pump the left breast and then half-hour to feed him! Then I had to bathe the pumping kit and the bottle after each and each feeding- that are very close at the same time in the initiating! It replaced into very time ingesting so i replaced into basically able to pump a million-thrice an afternoon and by utilising 3 weeks my milk had dried up! So in case you will pump, you will desire to pump each and every 2 hours in the initiating until you milk furnish is honestly wide-unfold. Now, I formulation feed and that i basically wish i ought to have breastfed. it may be plenty much less complicated! i would not would desire to worry approximately identifying to purchase formulation, making waiting formulation, making up the bottles, and washing the bottles. Plus, feedings could be plenty much less complicated to boot. basically pop your breast out and feed! No bottler or heaters to handle! At evening could be appropriate, because of the fact i ought to basically latch him on and flow returned to sleep as he fed. i recognize if i could have long gone to a lactation representative i could have got here upon a thank you to breastfeed inspite of inverted nipples. My son has had a complicated time with formulation to boot. I had to flow by way of 3 categories before i got here upon a ok one. truthfully, breastfeeding is the simplest and appropriate thank you to choose for you and your toddler!
