It proves that hockey can be a tough sport and still played with respect for the opponent. Fisher had every motivation to pummel him and chose instead to send his message with class. Not really rooting for one team over the other but after some of the other plays (on both sides) where respect was thrown out the window and guys health were put at risk I can say Mike Fisher has at least one new fan...Me! Play hard, play tough, hit everything in sight but most important....respect your opponent no matter what!

Haha, you beat me to bringing this up!
Agreed; that was good sportsmanship on Mike Fisher's part. This is commendable because of what just happened with Pronger, like Sens Enforcer said...and especially considering it looked like Ryan Getzlaf was still yelling and talking trash even when Fisher had him down, lol...
viphockey4 - Me too; I've slowly become a fan of Mike Fisher this past season. He's underrated, for sure. Besides the goalie, Ray Emery, being the reason why Ottawa didn't lose worst than they did in games 1& 2, I think Fisher was the only forward truly grinding and playing an intense game for them at that time.

Goes to show that Old School Hockey still exists. You never take advantage of another player in a vunerable situation.
I was at a coaching syposium and heard Ryan Walter recall a fight against a rival enforcer (I think it was Terry O'Reilly or Dave Semenko) who usually beat Ryan up.
Ryan got the upper hand and was just winding up to exact his long-awaited revenge when his opponent looked up and said, "Ryan, my shoulder popped out."
Ryan knew he couldn't throw the punch.
That is the hockey I fell in love with. It was good to see it last night.

Come onthere on skates less balance yeah he did hip toss him and mount but comeon if they were on just there feet in the street Gtzlaf woud kill him.
look at when it all unfolds getzlaf is standing up straight up people behind him so he cant get good base. Its an easy throw, he did get a chance to pop back up but still would have liked to see them out in the open throw down.

Yeah. - I'm really proud of Mike and the whole Ottawa team who showed an unbeleivable amount of restraint.
I attribute this to great coaching.

Thats whats called sportsmanship...he coulda murdered him on the ice, but he chose not too...nice to see him show restraint after the Pronger cheapshot and not take an additional penalty

i did. personally i was thinking 'kill him, kill him!' but he has class. I respect it greatly that some people know when to drop to gloves but they also know when to quit.
