No, it's worse. The 7300 is newer, but it's a cheap version of th 7600 (the next generation 6600). The 6600 is actually better than the 7300 because it has more "horsepower" (pixel pipelines in GPU terms).
Look at the comparision chart: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_NVIDIA_Graphics_Processing_Units#GeForce_6_series
EDIT: SORRY you said 7300GT, in that case it is better (by about 5-10%). But ONLY the GT.

I own a 7300 gt, it is a good value mid end card at a great price. It is NOT a high end gaming card, but would give you better than 6600. Anyways, it is not substantially different, why waste your money. Why not wait a little longer for the dx10 cards to come down in price? I know there will be a few good ones being released this summer. That will push all the prices down.

if your planning to upgrade your card,i would rather go with a 7600 you can get away with playing a few of the newer games, but its not gonna be so great
if you want anything better than a 7600 go with a 8600 card, they run about as fast a good 7900 card, and it supports dx10,which pretty much makes the late 7 series obsolete, and pointless to buy,and sets you up for later on down

It is better, but there's no reason to upgrade to that, as it's only very slightly better. It's just not worth the upgrade. If you are going to upgrade, get something better. If that's the best you can afford, wait a little while.
