Men and women can be friends without anything happening between them?

Why do some people think that men and women cannot be friends unless something happens between them?

Before i met my partner i had more male friends than female friends, because i find women to be too b!acthy, even now i still have more male friends than female friends but i am not sleeping with any of them.

Whats your opinion on this?

I personally have plenty of female friends, some of them very good friends...it doesn't mean I sleep with them. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having friends of the opposite sex
without something going on.
Thankfully we all don't have the same perverted opinion as pooped_over but then again he's an @sshole.

As long as you accept that at some point, they will probably think about you in a way that you wont necessarily think of them.

Its very hard for a male and a female to be friends without one of you considering this at some point.

For some this is a problem easily overcome and something that may pass quite quickly, for others it could be a problem.

Two of my very good male friends, have both in the past told me that they were in love with me. It was hard, really hard, as it was not a reciprocated feeling and also I never saw it coming.

I am male and have female friends and thats all it will ever be, they are really pretty all but we have been friends for so long they are like sisters to me, this has caused jealousy between partners before now but we have stuck together over the years and we are still friends today, my wife thinks they are great as well and accepts that they were part of my life before she was, which is a really cool outlook.

I think that a male and a female can be friends with no sex or anything like that coming between them. I believe it can happen if both of them want it and make sure they stay with the rules they made and be clear about them in the beginning but I believe it's possible.

I definitely agree that you can have friends of the opposite sex without sexual involvement. I have many male friends and it's not a problem for either of us. If the friend is married, I take extra precautions to avoid anything that could appear inappropriate, just out of respect for the wife. There are times when boundaries need to be set, just to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings, but all in all, it's great to be able to have friends of both sexes. It certainly broadens your perspective on life to have more exposure to both points of view.

My two best mates are men...and a few femmes thrown in, it all depends upon the people!!!! Guys are a gas to go to the cinema with....I don't chick gossip or flirt, "I" have no need to....and YES they can be friends without it being anymore, lok at it this way....whyis it that there is no chemistry between some people ...and you would think there would be?

I have many friends of both sexes. But for me to spend any time, lunch, dinner, a movie, going to the market, Home Depot even, with a female friend and heaven forbid she should come to my apartment. Everybody gets their screwy heads in a gossiping or smart mouth uproar.

I think females can have male friends with nothing happening, but i don't think its true for men. I think if you have a male friend they are always thinking "what if" in the back of their minds.

I used to work in a factory with 200 women working there, If i ever became close as in friends with one of them the rumours went round, we were seeing each other, it never seemed to matter If they were married or not!!!
