Most puters from major mfgrs have a hidden partition If its a vista computer it is usually in F8 right as you start up, If XP, it is usually control f11 all at the same time. System restore only runs you computer back a month or so, it does not return it to factory condition. BEFORE you do this, make sure you have all your cd's for our programs, and that you have backed up all your data onto CD or flash drive. Do not back up anything you downloaded from a peer to peer program
Next is to prevent it from happening again. Watch where you surf. Dont load redflag software like AOell, Limewire, bearshare, banzaibuddy, weatherbug, free screensavers, smileys, incredimail, comet cursers. And dont download any of that "free" music unlesss it is from pepsi, coke, sony, clearicil, etc.

if you have the restore disks you can restore your system with the same files that was on the computer when you got it. format the drive do not try to recover any files that was on the drive you will recover viruses also. If you can use a dos boot disk to format the drive. Run a virus program before you install any programs their are boot sector viruses and master boot record viruses that are hard to get rid of format will not get rid of mbr viruses and some boot sector viruses. You can delete the partition and re format it. use a dos boot disk boot it up at the command promp type fdisk if you want to delete the partition if you have winXP or Win2K you will need to delete a non standard dos partition. you will will have to install another partition reboot with the boot disk at the command prompt type fdisk you will want to install a dos partition answer to the question if you want to use the whole disk answer yes answer yes to the next question when this is done reboot on boot disk at the command prompt type format c:. this might be to advanced . Try getting Avast Antivirus and running a scan on your computer. You may be able to remove it.

If it's a very nasty infection, a basic system restore or antivirus program may not fix it. If you still have problems after trying those things, the next step would be to reformat your hard drive. Then putting on a clean install of Windows.

Followed by getting service pack 2, to prevent at least some of these nasties from coming your way.

If you don't have a Windows disc... Well, you may have to start saving your pennies. Or switch over to Linux for free.

If you are fortunate enough to have either the System Restore CDs, or a full copy of Windows, you can restore using the information provided by your computer vendor. Otherwise, you will have to buy a copy of Windows.
