They don't always. Its usually based on whether there are children involved. If the woman gets the children then the man has to provide housing in most states. If there are no children then its usually a matter of who can pay the other for their half of the house and who can pay the mortgage.

Before the modern age of enlightenment in the U.S.,women were not allowed to own any property. If a woman owned a house left to her by her parents, generally,it became the property of her husband when she married.
The old way of thinking in more recent times was that the woman was the best person to take care of the kids and the courts generally gave custody of the kids to the mother as well as the house so they would have a place to live until the kids were old enough to move out on their own.
If the house had a mortgage, the ex husband had to continue making the payments as well as support the kids even if the ex-wife had money of her own.
The more recent changes suggest that joint custody of the kids is best and in the absence of kids, the divorcing couple should agree on who gets the house or sell it and split any profits from the sale or 1 spouse agrees to buy the ex-spouse's half of all property.
In some parts of the country, judges still give the woman the house no matter what.

Not always. It used to be more so because it was a way to avoid additional upset to children already upset with their parents getting a divorce. If there are no children, it can be simply split as is the rest of your assets attained during marriage. A friend of mine, although they had 3 children, the youngest being a month old, had to take out a loan and buy her husband out of his half of the house. It was either that or uproot the kids and move somewhere else.

Because she usually get the kids. They sort of go together the house and the kids. I'm sure you know that it's also usually the man who has a girlfriend on the side and moves in with her when he leaves home. Yes, sometimes it's the other way around and the woman has a boyfriend, but in most cases it's the man with a chick on the side.

Because most men give up they just want to end it and give in to a lot of the demands without a fight. Most give in because of the kids but as for they cook they clean that seems to be an exception to the rule now a days most wife's are lazy and want everything 50/50 until they get a divorce then they want it all.

It is not always the norm. It depends on each couple's circumstances and financial situation. It also depends on whether there are children involved. If they are and the couple does not need to sell the house in order to settle then it's best for the children....same friends, neighborhood, schools etc. It's about the kids.

She doesn't. If there are children, many men want their kids to remain in the stable home they've been in. That's wise. If there are no children, you can sell the house and each take cash, or you can keep the house and give her the cash value of what her share is worth. Most men want to move on, so they give the house to the wife in order to keep their pensions, savings, etc.

The woman doesn't always get the house. You sound bitter. Why?

that does not always happen, only time for sure is if there are small kids, otherwise they usually sell the house and split the money at least that is the way it is done in Alabama.
