Specifically, chromosomes contain DNA which carries the blueprints for sequences of amino acids that give rise to various types of proteins found in systems. These proteins either function in the structure of the organism or act as enzymes which control all chemical activity within the organism (not unlimited control) that express themselves in what we refer to as hereditary or genetic factors.

A chromosome carries all of the genetic information that the cell needs to survive such as the information to reproduce, carry out mitosis and meiosis, make important functional proteins, and basically serve its function in the body. The chromosomes store all of the genetic information for the body as well so in meiosis, the chromosomes tell what the offspring will look like or its physical characteristics. From the chromosomes, RNA (which is a single strand of replicated DNA) is produced. RNA caries out all of the specific jobs that the cell requires because it can travel in and out of the nucleus while the DNA cannot and is transcribed by the ribosomes to make proteins.

Chromosomes are condensed DNA, which holds the genetic information for the cell. The information coded in the chromosomes is like the instruction manual for the cell, it tells it when to do everything & how to make proteins.

A chromosome is a huge piece of DNA. On each chromosome, there are many genes, that code for many of the characteristics of the animals. All the chromosomes together hold the genetic blueprint for the organism, with each cell in the organism having a copy.
