Some folks don't believe while other folks do. I've heard lots of reasons to believe, but what about the other side of this coin?

I once read that trying to explain God is like asking a fish to describe the water it swims in.

Ah yes, another question like this one. I get it asked every single day. It kind of drives me crazy. You know....life is so short....but we spend it asking questions with answers that are so far from us. Still, I shall tell you why I belive in God.
This is a very complicated question. You see, everyone has a different opinion.

Do I believe? Yes...in my own freakish way. But there are alot of people who question Him. They say 'If God created everything, then why did he create evil? why is there disease, rape, crimes, world hunger, war, etc?'

this is my opinion....

What is cold?

There is no such thing as cold. Cold is simply our description for something lacking warmth.

What is darkness?

There is no such thing as darkness. Darkness is only what we call a lack of light.

What is evil?

There is no such thing as evil. Evil is what i call an absence of the Lord.

You see, He cannot control everything, though many people think he can. He gives us little nudges and pushes in the right direction. It is our choice to follow the advice He gives us. It is also our choice to do our own thing and forget about Him.

So, God is nothing but the fulfillment of things that lack.

I, Cameo DiLain, have no friends. At elementry and middle school, I used to try and find some friends. I used to. And when I realized that...you know what...fine, fine if I don't have any friends. Fine if I'm a 'loner'.
I started sitting in places where I was all alone and no one could see me. I started to read. I started to love reading. Then, one day...I started to keep a journal. A journal of Life Thoughts.
As I would sit in alone on the green grass...I'd look up at the skies and the clouds. The grass and the flowers. The insects and the birds. I started writing poems and positve thoughts about life. It didn't take me long before I realized what perspective I was looking at life through. A perspective that completely changed my point of view of things. A perspective of beauty. I started to realized beauty in the littlest things. I found my purpose in life. I realized how much I wanted to put smiles on those faces that were full of sadness or wet with tears.

Then, one day, I looked up at the sky. I smiled. I always used to believe in God...but that was the time I realized why I did. As I was looking up at the sky and smiling....I knew why I had been a 'loner'. Because if I hadn't had been without any friends...I wouldn't have realized my purpose for this world, I wouldn't have relaized beauty,a nd most of all....I, now, have friends....that no one, I repeat, no one in this world has. Like those beautiful flowers, and those wonderful insects, and those swift birds, and those blue skies, and that emerald green grass...and....God.
I believe in him....because he fulfilled everything that was lacking. I say...that God is simply the fulfillment of things that lack. I love Him. I talk to Him everyday. He talks to me. Do you know how? Through the brisk movement of the grass. Through the clouds and skies that swiflty sway. Throught the flowers that bloom into beauty. Throuhg the silence that holds music. Through...simply...the perspective of beauty.

No one in objective reality can deny God's existence. We may place God in the same category as the Easter Bunny or the Flying Spaghetti Monster but all that does is show that we don't value God. For when we really want something, we'll seek that something on a whole lot less evidence that it exists. What evidence, for example, did Columbus have that assured him that he could get to India by sailing west? But the economic value of reaching India made the decision.

We don't value God because we don't want to be accountable to God or anyone else for the things we do.

Religion is a SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION, which means it is affected by whatever social system is in place during a specific time. If a society in a given location, time or scenario has no reason to believe in a Christian God, the society necessarily will develop habits, traditions, religions to explain things in the world that are not understood. People need to know the 'why' and 'how' of things, maintain order, form laws, governing bodies - social etiquette - rites, etc...

If there is no-one teaching the lessons from a Christian God, people will still teach lessons and others will still listen. If those messages and teachings do not contain the socially constructed beliefs about a Christian God, then God simply doesn't exist for some people.

Even if the Bible is the ultimate word of God - the word of God wasn't broadcast UNIVERSALLY or Globally in ancient times, at all times - it simply couldn't be...if you must use 'evidence' from the Bible, it mentions that after quite a long time (beyond when God purportedly created man), the earth was broadly populated...and at a certain point, 'disciples,' 'teachers,' and those who preached the word of God - were sent forth to deliver God's messages to the world.

Quite obviously, this means that in many locations and for many people, a socially constructed Christian God didn't exist, yet these people without the Christian God didn't simply remain or live 'lawless' and without belief systems about how the world, relationships, natural science, etc., operated.

To some, in our modern day, An Ultimate and Omnipotent God who allows only SOME of the people to maintain a connection to ever-important teachings (as Christians belief Bible teachings are) and who doesn't exact better correction with His sons and daughters than to ban them from Gardens (Adam and Eve) and curse them (Cain) - so that their future and innocent children are afflicted with forefather/fore-mother concerns...is not very appealing.

To some, other beliefs such as ultimate pro-life (Jainism) or meritorious consequences (Sihkism, Buddhism, Native Spirituality, Hinduism) to fit actions in life - are much more workable, understandable and a better fit.

Most people who deny the existence of God (assuming you are speaking of the Christian 'God,' - and this post is in-keeping with this view)) aren't just being stubborn, being difficult and hard-headed. They actually have entire belief systems that hold up very well and solidly to intense scrutiny - sometimes better than Christian belief systems ........... however - quite often, single-God-believing individuals refuse to hear full explanations from people who don't adhere to the 'Christian' or 'One-God-Only' or 'Ultimate Creator' idea...

Also, all of the aforementioned 'religions' contain the explicit belief that ALL PEOPLE and all beliefs, deeply held which do no significant harm to others - are to be respected. Often a Sihk, Jain, Hindu, Buddhist, Native American (there are so many more - just naming a few, for example), holds this belief so deeply that they will refuse to call down another person or belief system.

Some of the beliefs also include NOT FORCING their viewpoint upon people, because someone NOT ASKING about beliefs and philosophy is exhibiting the sign that he or she is NOT significantly prepared enough to learn religion. Forcing beliefs, in some other religions, besides Christianity (also with Christianity), is considered taboo - a risk to the 'teacher' that they will manipulate the 'receiver' (that they have motives which are personal and individual and not in the best interest of the 'student') - and a risk to the 'receiver/student' that they will be told things that they are not mentally, emotionally, spiritually, or even physically able to handle.

I believe that the information in the last two paragraphs is the reason why atheists, multi-god devotees, and agnostics are so very misunderstood in our modern times. Agnostics aren't without fully formed and complex belief systems, either. They just don't happen to be believers in a Christian God.

Using philosophy and the ability to hypothesize, you wouldn't be able to disprove the existence of a Pink Pixie living at the centre of the moon.

Abstraction allows for any hypothesis. That doesn't mean its true.

When you first heard about gods, you made the choice to believe it. On what grounds did you make that decision? Likely not a very good reason.

People who personify God. It was nauseating back when I was seven, sitting in a fundamentalist church and is more so now. People who do this are simple-minded souls who can't help it, but it still is deeply repulsive because it is so accepted socially and culturally to do so - its faddish to sound pious. What is happening psychologically - and we are taught to do this - is that people project their defects onto others and their attributes onto gods and governments. If they would 'own' their love, honesty, charity, etc. etc. and stop being ashamed, we might get some relief.

Even the concept of God - the perfect, divine goodness we long to experience - unique to each of us, no longer has meaning much less a curiosity about the responsive, multidimensional reality in which we are embedded. Now, all people are capable of is personifying a daddy in the sky. It is sad and appalling.

"Isn’t atheism basically a blasphemous denial of God’s existence hoping to flee accountability for unrepented sins?" No. that's a rejection of claims with reference to the supernatural that are asserted as real without giving any info to show that they are real. Your fake dichotomy (Christianity or Atheism) is horribly incorrect. You thoroughly forget approximately approximately the different thousands of religions people persist with, until you ignorantly call all non-Christian religions "atheistic" to boot. "Why no longer basically do what He calls for, confess your sins to God, truly sorry out of your heart and easily ask His forgiveness?" Why ask for a therapy to a ailment which you have given no info that I even have? furnish info that your god exists then i'll contemplate coping along with his standards. "have faith that Jesus’ death on the flow took the punishment your sins deserved." Having somebody else pay the punishment for something I did is immoral. Why could I sell immoral habit? "study how the Bible says to be precise with God," I even have. i discover the biblical god character to be horribly immoral, homophobic, bigoted, illiberal, and tyrannical in each and every way. "'So then, each and each persons will provide an account of them self to God.' Romans 14:12" Why could we would desire to provide an account of ourselves to a being that supposedly knows each and everything? Doing so is pointless.

People would like to see evidence or proof to show that someone or something's real. For example, we refuse to believe in aliens because there isn't any actual proof of them. Some people go far as to believe that God might not exist because there isn't any evidence of him.

There is no proof, all god is is an algebra answer. life +origin = X If you actually research both sides you find logic and reason more favoring, Plus if you read psychology text it will explain brain and mind functions that put up defenses to accept a higher calling, purpose, and acceptance.

The comfort in being able to choose your beliefs is what causes some to deny God's existence.
