I'm in the process of buying a new car. All new cars seem to come with running daylights on the headlights these days. Is there a way to disconnect that or tell the dealership to have it disconnected before buying the car or must they sell it that way these days?

The dealership will not disconnect them since they are a safety item. You'll have to do it yourself if you want them disconnected. Get a Chilton's or Haynes manual for the vehicle and it should give you an idea on how to disable the DRL system.

Its just that way. Although I have a 2006 Grandprix and I can turn all the lights off, but I just use the automatic feature. Yeah cars today just come with daytime running lights. You can disable them, buy pulling out a fuse, but I believe that disables some other key components, look in the owners manuals at the fusebox diagram to find out which ones.

it is the new law to have these lights on for safety and so the on-coming traffic can see that you are the on-coming traffic --- hint you can look at the fuse block and pull the fuse on this function of the electric system and still drive the car as if these lights were ON ---- 'cept you will only be able to unplug that fuse after you get the new car in your driveway as then it will be your responsibility to lessen the safety factor and the burden does not fall to the dealership ..... /////// ////////////

Most new vehicles will have a switch on the dash so you can turn them on and off. It is usually with dash light and interior light switch. But they will not disconnect them for you because it is a safety device that most if not all new vehicles will have.

I believe that it is now mandatory equipment on any newer vehicles. I am sure that you could disconnect the automatic turn on and just switch them on and off manually. Best wishes!!!

Why disconnect them they are a safety feature.
so other vehicles can see you.
I think you must be one of those dumbos who think you would be saving your car battery.
