and what exactly do you understand under the term communist?
state communism in the former soviet countries was a perverted, totalitarian abuse of ideas for the sake of state capitalism.It was called communism but with communism it had actually not much in common.I wasn't ruled by the people it was ruled by a bureaucracy.
China is a regime with a corrupt government that leads the country to the most ruthles, humanity denying stage of capitalism.State control and "superstates"are not something unique to "communist" countries.It is plainly wrong to use the the term communism(which means totally opposite things when used in a different context) when you actually mean "totalitarian".Marx was a political and economical philosopher who came up with an analisys of the ways comodities are produced and distributed and how this relates to the overal class-society structure.He would be called a communist, but it doesn't have anything to do with stalinist russia!
Go to www.wikipedia.org and read up about such issues.
The issues you are concerned about have been discussed for many years and are related to the advancment of global capitalism.
Look up the Frankfurt Shool.

Surely we can expect some stronger control over who does what and who is allowed to do what, but I do not think that it will be communist, but rather corporate control. The corporations have the money and the ability to take over almost every aspect of people's lives. What used to be state monopolies have gone over to corporate monopolies, and these monopolies can take over other businesses that the old state monopolies could not.
For example, in the UK, a state owned electricity industry was handed over to private enterprise, and the new owners take over the gas industry and then the water industry and wow! we have water, gas and electricity controlled by foreign businesses that set price and availability. Very worrying, maybe state communism might be better, if only because state governments can be changed by democratic means.

Yeah, folks, there is communism par excellence ruling the world, especially the States and UK....
there is just one political party with real ruling power, others -
if allowed -they are just facade;
there is no freedom of speech, all mass media are controlled by the communist party;
you cannot say what you really think, because if you do, you are getting jailed, punished, persecuted in many ways and, ultimately, killed;
there is also no freedom of faith, because you have to believe in what the government say;
you cannot travel freely abroad, because your passport is kept by the police and they are given to you just if you show that you are loyal citizen - for example, you may be asked to report to the political secret police who did you meet while abroad etc.
the political secret police agents are spying the people - what they say, to whom, when etc. and you never know, if your best friend/relative etc. is not actually one of them;
the secret political police is acting out of law - in fact, the law does not matter more than the political leadership's will
free election is a farce, candidates are designated by the ruling communist party and it is widely known that the communist party ALWAYS wins;
food, cars and some other goods are rationed
you have no chance to pursuit your professional carrer if you are not a member of communist party;
etc.
you do not know too much about the real life in the communist country, do you?

The erosion of civil liberties is not uniquely communist. Hitler was not a communist. Burma is not communist, neither is Saudi Arabia. Human rights are thin on the ground in both places.
State Communism requires a dictatorship. India is a democracy.
We face a double 'threat' from the rise of theocracy's and western democracy over-reacting to the threat posed by militant Islam.
I doubt if communism poses much of a relative threat to any of us.

What do you think Europe is all about and why do you think Blair and the other New Labour (the communist party with a new name, definitely not the Labour party) are so keen to get us into Europe. Blair, Brown and all the other New Labour Nazis have now been joined by a new fascist member Cameron, god we are in trouble aren't we, Britain is now formally a one party state and instead of voting against it and backing away the tribal voter is charging towards it

tsk,
I very much doubt that what you ask will happen. People want more freedom, not less. There will be a breaking point reached by citizens of free countries - they will DEMAND that civil liberties taken away be restored. And they will vote for candidates who promise to do just that. Communism is dead - Cuba is the last totally Communist nation. China and Russia have 'westernized' to the point of no return

comrade, come over to england if you're a lazy, uneducated baby-making machine, here we have the true spirit of communisim. Why, all three of our supposedly different parties have now come up with a brilliant idea to get rid of grammar schools - ie the schools that allow motivated smarter poorer kids go to to get away from the lazy baby-making machinery!
but stay away if you are are hard working middle-class tax payer with ambition - the government do the utmost to discourage those types.
It is gratifying to hear that the USA is also with the UK in the glorifying new age of communism.
However, i reckon in about 10 years the tide will have turned in response, and we'll be in a very right-wing society. That would be better!
EDIT: to eastern eu, thats called fascist dictatorship masquerading as communism

You seem to have it the wrong way round. It is becoming a fascist superstate run by corporate entities which are mainly owned by US decedents of Nazi sympathisers ( Prescott Bush).
