Because they like it. Everyone has the right to listen whatever music they like, I don't see what's the problem. In what way are you affected by the music other people hear? Or do you live from other people's lives? I think you should take a time to evaluate your self, and look up for the things of your own life and stop asking stupid questions, or why do you listen to the music you listen to? if you listen to some real music I mean O_o

I have no idea--but I can say it's a downfall of black culture. The blues and R&B were music black people could take pride in. The negativity in rap makes it unbearable but with the cycle of hate it's doubtful to end soon. I ignore it and whenever a car is beside me blaring the mess, I just turn up whatever I am listening to.

You have probably find a music genre that best represents you while others that listen to rap may feel that it represents them. It may not be the exact experience that they enjoy, but maybe they can closely relate to that style better than let's so Alternative rock.

The same reason you listen to whatever genre of music you do. And why are there quotation marks around music? Do you not see rap as music? Isn't music expressing yourself? Isn't that what they do?

Because we like it... I think it's immature to insult music you don't understand... what if I said "why do people still like rock" or country or whatever you listen to? I have an open mind to all music, so maybe you should just listen to rap that appeals to you, or don't listen to it all. Either way, it doesn't help to insult people... kay?

Some people may like the beat, the lyrics, or just like rap because it fires them up. People have different tastes and rap could be one of them.

Because we like it. we listen to it for the same reasons other ppl listen to country or to rock or other music. i listen to most kinds of music and i like rap for the same reasons. and alot of ppl can relate to what rappers rap about. i can relate to the song I try so hard by akon. i also can relate to the song like toy soilders by eminem. also ppl like it becuz it has good beats. alot of ppl say rap music its good becuz it talks about killing ppl and drugs etc. but alot of the songs are really good and deal with the struggles ppl go through everyday of their lives. like the song Changes by 2Pac
