1- It's non of his business so I probably wouldn't tell him!
2- If you do tell, make sure he knows you weren't pressured into it. It was a mutual decision, you enjoyed yourself and you chose to tell him because he is your friend and its important to share special things with each other. You didn't tell him so he could lecture you or hate your bopyfriend.

As a Christain, if one of my friends wanted to tell me that, I'd want them to tell me that they understand how I feel, that they know that I don't encourage it, but I understand why they'd want to do it. Make sure they know that you appreciate his views.

if you haven't accepted christ into your heart yet, i think it's okay to just come right out and say you lost it. after all, he/she can't stay mad at you forever. thats how christians are. you did sin, so he/ she will be mad.
