I wanted to know what type of lawyer to bring a claim against my former employer I have a list of incidents that happened that my boss acklowedge but would not do anything about.

More information would be needed to answer this accurately, but since you were laid off and not terminated for cause, there really isn't a legal issue in that respect.

If the incidents were safety violations, you could contact OSHA and report them, if they were labor issues then you could contact the Labor Board in your state.

You could talk to a lawyer, but most places your boss can lay you off for any reason as long as it's not because of something like your race, gender or religion. If you got laid off because the boss or some coworker just didn't like you or something like that, it might not seem fair but it's legal. It's called employment at will.

Your best choice is to look for another job. File for unemployment in the meantime, but don't wait to look until that's about to run out, or you could end up with no income.

Yes this sounds like you need an employment lawyer. If you were being discriminated against than perhaps a discrimination of civil rights lawyer.
