Hi Emma, I think what you are asking for is why you can't have a horse in a neighborhood in they city?? If I am wrong I apologize, but if that is what you are asking, it usually has to do with zoning codes put into place by your local government. The zoning is put into effect to so that those who do prefer the city smells and who don't like horses or the smell of them ("horsey smell") can live in the city without anything to bother them.

Many housing developments have what are called covenants. These are like laws for the people who live there. Many will not permit horses. Some tell you what color your house has to be or waht type of other building syou can build or how many cars you can have parked outside at any one time. Personally I would never be happy living in one but for others they like to have everyone be the same. As far as general info on horses you need to be more specific asbout the general info you need. Many developments and townships require 5 acres for horses and then you can only have 2.

She could have easily just poked it on something. My mare has this maybe 2 times a year. Get a bucket of warm warm water, and a wash cloth. Dip the wash cloth in the water and then hold over the horses eye gently and gently let it sit on there, whether the eye open or closed. Repeat this every time the wash cloth gets coldish. Do this for about 10 minutes. It will have some comfort to her. I also have on hand Vetericyn Eye Ointment, for horses. This will reduce swelling and get rid of the problem over night. Best of luck, Erica

A horse is not a pet that you can have in your backyard. It is considered a farm animal and many municipalities have laws that prohibit people keeping farm animals in their yards for noise and sanitary reasons. The proper place to board a horse is at a riding stable or horse farm where there is a lot of space for the horse to run, and there are people there who will take care of the horse properly.
Owning a horse is an expensive project. Not only do you have to pay to board the horse somewhere, you need to feed it, keep it shod, and examined regularly by a vet.

there is so much general information, so i think you should go to the library or a book store and buy a book about what you want to know. a book i suggest is the Usborne Complete Book of Riding & Pony Care. it has tons of pictures and isn't huge, but has enough general information about everything. another book is written by Cherry Hill called Horse and Pony Care for Kids. it covers health issues in it. it doesn't cover western riding though.
as for the neighborhood thing, subdivisons have things called HOA (home owners associations) that make rules for the home owners living there. the backyards aren't big enough for a horse to live. however, some places have neighborhoods that have regular homes, but have community barns and arenas to keep your horse in.
Good luck!

You've got an internet connection -- google "horses" and you'll get more information than you'll know what to do with.
Horses are considered livestock and you can't keep livestock within the city limits. It's got nothing to do with neighborhoods with names.
