It's REALLY healthy, it has 12 fish(LOL) and it has an aquatech 10-20 powerfilter and a preset @ 79 degree heater, a "floating" thermometer, LIVE Plants such as java moss, water wister, sprite, dragons toung, amazon sword, purple plant CRYPT?, LOTS of hiding places.... blue, pink, green and black gravel. THE FISH ARE SOOOO HAPPY!!!oh yea and an aquarium background. The fish are a crowntail betta, 2 fancy guppies, 2 SAEs (im moving them SOON!), 2 neon tetras(1 died*:(*), 2 normal white skirt tetras, 1 "Hi-Fin" tetra, 2 "normal" black skirt tetras. SO what do ya think?

The other Tetra will die from stress. They need to school in groups of at least 4, 6 would be better...
What is an SAE? The other Tetras are too few in number as well. How big is the second tank?

Sounds busy and beautiful. The tetra might be happier with others of their kind. All tetra are schooling fish and only school with the same type of tetra. They generally need at least 3 per school but do better in schools of least 5. Of course, these obviously have adjusted to fewer. If the neon is showing signs of stress, make sure to get it at least one more, preferable 2. If he seems fine, then maybe not. You will need to judge that yourself. Since everyone else has been doing fine, and the tank is already crowded, I wouldn't mess with what's working.

I think I speak for many here in saying how could your friend get bored with that? I'm glad he did a good job with it and treated them well.

Sounds like your friend gave you a good gift there. It's more decorated and stocked than my primary 10 gallon tank.

Like you said though, it's crowded. But as long as the fish are doing alright, it should be fine. Keep an eye on the betta and the guppies, as they tend to harass anything with flowing fins.

Maybe get an O2 bubbler if any of them are breathing at the surface.

Sounds a little overstocked, but I'm sure it looks good!

BTW, Tetras should be in groups of at least 5.

And to something_fishy, SAE stands for Siamese Algae Eater (AKA Flying Fox)...

Sounds like a really great tank to me. Once you move the 2 SAE's would suggest adding a few more neons and you'll be set with a very, very nice tank!

WELL THE FISH WILL HAVE A LOT OF ROOM TO MOVE AROUND WHICH IS GOOD AND YOU GOT A PRETTY GOOD GIFT THERE. IF YOU THINK ITS TOO BIG WELL THEN ADD SOME MORE FISH TO THE TANK. EVERY BIT HELPS.
