Nervous or scared, no. Alert and cautious, yes. I hate that it's necessary but I have become much more wary of strangers approaching me over the years. I grew up during the late 60's and early 70's when the world was a much safer place, so this has been a very difficult lesson for me to learn.

I think people constantly bombarded by messgaes on the media are bound to feel more alert
In 1992 there was an abduction and a killing of a two year old by two kids aged 10 and 9 and this was broadcasted as appaling
People became very paranoid after that and would look at others strangely even if they admired their baby
no longer would you see toddler walking alongside moms without harnesses and leads

Ive never liked being alone while on a side walk or in a mall. The last time I was this homeless guy attemted to rape me. It wasnt the first time that had happened. A lot of the time Im aproached by someone on the street or somthing I get flash backs. Now I almost always have a friend with me. Kinda sux.

Hi usually I am not scared but if the persons behaviour were suspect- i.e. walking too close to me, staring at me or the children or just something unusual that a person wouldn't do then I would feel uneasy.

They do say that if you walk tall and not look scared that a petential mugger will not chose you to attack ( this is advice we have been given when we had to work alone)

i don't have children but when i was a child I felt like this about men and didn't trust them one bit. It's because As a child i spent a lot of time alone and got approached by a lot of weirdos as a result.

This is what annoys me about loaded statements like this. People are quick to moan if you say "all terrorists are Muslim" (although they usually are), and if you argue that all catholic priest are kiddie fiddlers, it's straight to hell for you. However associating men with being unable to love and raise kids, especially a white male, well it's fair game love you go ahead. Two names for you dear Mrya Hindley & Rose West!

it sounds like your pretty paranoid.yes there is a lot of bad press about these kind of things, but that dosnt mean everyone is out to get you or your child.its pretty impossible to tell who is capable or not.it sounds like you are very protective of your child, and rightly so.but i wouldnt let it ruin your life worrying too much about it,or you will find yourself withdrawing into yourself and avoiding contact with otherwise decent people.just get on with your life and chill out a bit.all the best.

The most prolific killers are men - yes, look out for and be aware of these abominations of the human form.

I don't think you have the right to make accusations like that. Men are not responsible for everything. You really seem like a strange person who needs to get a grip.
