The River Styx flows at the border of Hell in Greek mythology. It was necessary to pay two coins to Charon in order to be carried across on his ferry, and this is why coins are sometimes placed on the eyes of the deceased. The River Styx is sometimes identified with the actual Acheron River in Greece. I'm not clear by what you are asking about India, though.

According to Greek mythology, the Styx is the river that you cross to get into Lethe or the land of eternal sleep (our world "lethargy" cames from it. Charon is the ferryman who takes one across the Styx.
Maybe other mythologies or religions have a river than flows into hell.
