moldmaking - I need to make a waste mold and produce a fibre glass cast from it, what is the best thing to use as a release agent on the plaster to release the fibreglass? what is the best plaster to use as a waste mold and where can i get it?

I believe our mold shop uses Vaseline. I know for a fact they use it for casting rubber onto plaster, and I'm pretty sure i noticed them painting Vaseline on plaster (very thin) and then applying fiberglass. I would try a small sample first to make sure though.

The traditional solution is English soap, painted on the plaster until drops of water will stand up on the surface.
Plaster and English soap in concentrated form are most easily available in bulk from a ceramics (or pottery) supply firm. Most major cities have them. Trinity Ceramics in Dallas and Seattle Pottery Supply in that city are known to me.
