Some species of macaques and proboscis monkeys live in swamps and both can swim.

I suppose threats to otters would include using water for irrigation, trapping for the fur industry, eutrophication of waterways and other types of pollution.

Primate Question:

Depending on what part of the world you are looking at mainly you will be looking at species of monkeys rather than apes. However there are species of Bonobos and Gorillas that have been seen wading through rivers/lakes/ponds as well as using tools such as sticks to test waters depths as they cross.

With swimming monkeys in swamp type areas a few are...
Allens Sawm: Allenopithecus nigroviridis
Red Uakari: Cacajao calvus

You will find tons of info on the Allens if you look around, including video of them swimming.

Otter Question:
Habitat loss is the main factor with otters.

There is a theory (which is not accepted by many, myself included) that humans developed from apes that were living in swamps. Walking upright and being largely hairless were adaptations for existing in a swamp.
