i was buying shoes yesterday and they only had a pair of size 8 left and one of the pair was in the converse box and the other one was in the stand(like for show) and i had to take that one and when i looked at it, it was like kind of dirty and the linen was like all sticking out. i was about to ask for like 5 dollars off but i wasnt sure if that was possible...
Could i have asked for a discount? if so, how much?
and i never asked for a discount so i didnt know how to say it..so how should i have said it?
and what if they didnt let me have the discount?

well anyways i just paid for the regular shoes price which was like 45

Retailers want to sell sell sell. You could've just told them that the shoe that was on display was dirty and not so new. They may have discounted for you. But since you already purchased it you can go back and tell them you just noticed that the displayed pair was dirty and seems worn out more than the brand new one. They should refund you something...if you're really pushy. Talk to the manager...don't bother with the cashiers. They will end up calling the manager for the approval anyway.

If you don't like confrontation..which I'm sure you will run into...don't bother. It's not likely that you'll get a big discount anyway.

Or you can pretend you're returning it because you found a pair that was brand new and cheaper somewhere else...hinting to them for a discount....mention how the one side of the shoe that you bought from THEM is dirty and seems worn out.

Yes, I would have said that these shoes weren't in the condition in which you were paying for them to be in and asked for a discount. The reason is because if you decided to take them back they might not accept them, even if that is how they left the store.

Yeah, you definitely should've demanded a discount. Just say, these shoes are already worn out, could I have a discount, since you have no others in stock? I don't think they'd give on e to you now that you already bought them though...
