My mom said it was really bad and i need more opinions!

This was one of the best movies that I have seen in a while. I understand why some people may not like it.
The movie is a very brutal telling of the experience of a little girl during the spanish civil war. The brutality of war and the fantasy world the little girl creates to block out reality are exceptional.
As are the experiences of each of the characters in the movie.
The doctor's drive to help and heal.
The officer's drive to win at all costs.
The mother's struggle for her daughter's well being and her own security.
The rebel's battle against the army.
This movie is definitely one to see.

Let's just say it was weird. May be appropriate for a mature teenager - maybe. There are definitely disturbing adult themes in the movie.
You are asking if anyone enjoyed it, but your mom said it was bad. Those are two different things!!

You see the commercials, you read the back of the box at the movie store and you expect to get a Lord Of The Rings type of movie. But you know what? Nope. All that fairy tale stuff has nothing at all to do with the actual movie, and its all in Spanish subtitles. But beyond that, its actually a great movie if you dont mind having to read everything they say. Just dont expect a fairy tale, it aint gonna happen

It's not a kid's movie!
It is a brilliant film. Nothing against your mom, but I think she expected something else....something easy and light.
If more films were made and support like Pan's, then we wouldn't have to encumber the onslaught of crap, like Norbit and Epic Movie.

oh, it`s a beautiful movie. the story combines to worlds- a real one and an imaginary one, so fantastic that if you have enjoyed "Alice in wonderland" you`ll absolutely love the creativity and imagination of this director. you know that Guillermo Del Torro (the director) thought about this subject for over 20 years?

It wasn't bad. I thought it would be more of an adventure movie, kinda like Alice in Wonderland maybe, but it wasn't. It was more about her step father. Besides that, it was a really good movie.

I don't know what your mom didn't like about it, maybe she doesn't know about the fascist background Spain had at the time.
I thought it was a brilliant film.

no no no, i promise you, this movie was awsome. i dont know what knid of movies your mom likes but if you dont believe me just go to www.rottentomatoes.com and find out for yourself.
type in a movie you though was stupid and see what rating it got and then type in pans... and then look!!
this movie was gutwrenching, nailbiting, heartbreaking.
i loved it, sorry mom

I loved it, it was a new and fresh idea, it had a good story plot. And was really enjoyable. It was violent and the general guy was a B-a-s-t-a-r-d, but it wasn't purposeless violence so it was fully enjoyable.

I thought it was phenomenal . It was like two movies in one . fantasy / history . The only draw back was the darn sub titles .
