Probably there are different points of view.

Atavacron....how the h*ck do you know what the soldiers are thinking?
How many have you asked? Or, do you and your liberal friends just rant about how much this war sucks and think to yourself that the troops hate it?
Maybe you should go over there and see first hand what they are fighting for. Maybe then you would see that our troops are fighting for the peace and security of the Iraqi people.
RESPONSE to atavacron:
You say these troops lie? These are the same troops that signed up to join the armed forces to keep you safe! I'd like to see you call them liars when they save your life some day.
Instead of complaining about what they are fighting for and calling them liars, why don't you write to a US troop that is fighting over there right now and see what he/she thinks. He/she has hopes and fears, thoughts and dreams, but he/she has put his/her life off for several years to secure your freedom.
Try to show some respect.
RESPONSE AGAIN:
I actually do know someone that is over in Iraq right now.
He keeps a photo album on facebook of what is going on over there.
Some of the pictures aren't pretty, but, did you know that sometimes in war, people die?
He has hopes and fears, he is a great person, and he joined the Marines after the war started because he knew what he was getting into. He knew why we were fighting the war.
Show some Fr*ggin' respect...you are really starting to irritate a lot of people.
RESPONSE AGAIN:
Don't compare flag waving to calling US troops liars.
How can I believe anything you say? You said i don't know any troops that are in Iraq...but yet i do.
You call troops liars but yet you probably think that because you have probably never actually talked to one.
Seriously, try to show some respect. And thanks for letting me have the last word...I hope you weren't lying when you said that...Otherwise, you would be lugged in with the troops you think lie all the time.

The soldiers are payed and they enlisted in their own free will.
The are sent in by politicians who think the wars is right and I think it fair for the soldiers to listen to the other side of the story too so they can make a better judgment about the war from the position they are in.
In this way they know there are people who want them to come home and find some other way to end this conflict.

What you don't want to hear is that a lot of soldiers over there already know it's lost, too and just wanna come home and be done with it.
Edit:
Yes. Most Iraqi's love the troops.Yes, what with slaughters of innocents perepetrated by burned out troops, Abu Grahib, and soldiers laughing as Iraqi kids chase the troop trucks in search of water (I can link to the YouTube of that, if you like.) I can't see why they wouldn't ADORE us.
Now, while you can point to (and I may concede that) the shootings and the taunting of children are somewhat isolated incidents, it's an utter fallacy to promote the idea that 95% of the people there adore us.
It simply isn't true. If your "friends" are telling you that, they are lying to you.
And if they believe it, they're lying to themselves.
I know ritefielder because you simply don't corner the market on knowing people in active service. I do as well. (As would have been clear upon original reading if you were in any way literate.)
**And your inability to discus reality (Both the good AND bad of it) in favor of blind flag-waving irritates me. So we're even.
You can have the last word. You seem to need it.

Atavacon, how nice of you to say that from your couch while watching CNN. From somebody who actually is good friends with many people in all branches of the armed forces, who have spent time in Iraq... it is very annoying to hear that kind of talk.
They are all quick to point out that 95%+ of the Iraqi citizens love them, and thank them daily for their freedom. They have shown me many pictures of them with Iraqi citizens thanking them and praising the United States. The war is not lost, never has been, and never will be.

Atatvacron is overstating. I am surrounded by military. They support the war and do not believe it is lost. I keep in touch with 25 soldiers.None of them or their comrades believe it is lost. They are amazed how Bin Laden uses Democrat talking points and no one notices.

Most know that what the Democrats stand for, or actualy that they stand for nothing in the first place, so the ones I know, think very little of what they say.
