By companies do you mean agencies?? If so I don't know much about modeling but for acting in the US try
www.agentassociation.com
it will find you a legit agent,
REMEMBER an agent will never ask for ANY money up front, they don't get paid until you do and even then they only take between about 7 to 10% of what you earn
