It is because, in human nature, we always have to have someone to look down upon so that we can gain a false sense of superiority. If someone was to turn the mirror around and look at their lifestyle, I'm sure that something could be found to make fun of them.

The reason some people do not like over weight people is because this world is so involved at looking at the appearance of someones beauty and body. Instead of looking inside their heart they automatically makes decissions upon them at their first look. I think Hollywood and some other industries have added to this problem. All you see on t.v. is thin and so called barbie doll looking women. Even thoguh they have very little people that are over weight. Society has made it this way and that's why people are anorexic or doing plastic surgery these days. It is just ashame that people has come to this. When people turn their heads away from overweight people it makes me so upset sometimes because they don't know what their doing to the other person who is a little plump or more. By the way, when you pass on a friendship from a heavy person just because of their appearance then your the one missing out on someone who is beautiful inside. I think all people are beautiful, no matter what shape, size, color or appearnace.

The reason why "people" are so insensitive toward people who are overweight is because, first, they have insecurities with their own appearances, most likely they are the type of "people" who only feel good about themselves by comparing themselves to other people in ways that make them look good...lastly, it's because people who are overweight are treated like it's their fault...."people" see being overweight as something you can prevent...and if you are overweight, then you should exercise or starve yourself in order to look "normal". Don't let people force you to change anything about yourself just to satisfy their ideals, just to make the world a more cozy place for them. Be fat if you're fat, skinny if you're skinny....whatever..and Abercrombie sizes are ridiculous....but you shouldn't feel bad about yourself...just think about it....whoever made up the size chart must have been a sad person....think how lowly you must think of yourself if the only way you can feel good is by making others feel bad........they're nothing but shallow elitists....who are promoting an image that they can't even live up to. It's pathetic....and laughable. Don't let it get you down.

Some people are just mean. People are insensitive to black people using the n-word, people are mean to everybody. Its fear. People are scared that fat people, black people, hispanic people are going to take over the world because they are not like them. Or people are scared that they are going to end up like them. A friend or mine once told me that he had a nightmare that he was white. A nightmare. So he is scared to be anything other than what he is. Now I can't lie. I am utterly disgusted when people who are large wear tight shirts that look like they are going to bust out of. Now if you want to wear Hollister you need to be happy with your size and wear your size. If you can't fit things in Hollister, sorry. Now I'm also disgusted when I see a skinny person in a low-cut top and I can see there ribs. This is not being mean. Also I understand that fat people want to fit in (in pun intented) with everyone else and wear Hollister and A and F but mabye you just can't fit that. And when you force yourself into their small clothes it just doesn't look right. So insted of trying to fit into those clothes and end up looking ridulous, put on something cute you look good in even if its from Lane Bryant, Target or Torrid. Sorry its so long but I have a lot to say.

Firstly, people are insensitive to fat people because being fat seems to be something that one could do something about, so if one stays fat one is lazy and unmotivated. Before you scream, "foul", all you fat people out there, I agree that the normal body weight for some people is larger than for others and genes might play some role in that, but if you're a woman who is 5'5", weighing 165 is a lot different than weighing 225, so stop using hereditary or "medical" excuses for being grossly overweight, same for men.
Secondly, so many fat people dress so inappropriately; they wear tight clothes that show ever bulge, short skirts, men's pants go under their bellies instead of around them, to the disgust of viewers. It's as if they think by buying smaller clothes they are smaller, but it just makes them look offensive.
Thirdly, perhaps due to a poor self image, fat people are frequently ill kempt. There's a lot of grooming they could do that they don't make the effort to do, which fits into the world's preconception that they don't care how they look.
Before you think that I don't know what I'm talking about I can tell you I once was fat. I went from my normal body weight of 135 to almost 200 lbs. in the period of six months. You may be sure I was shocked and took great care to buy the proper clothes for my new sillouette and took great pains over my make up, hair, hygeine, etc. Fortunately, in my case the weight gain was due to some medication I was taking and once I stopped taking it I was back to 135 within 3 months. (If any of you fat people are on antidepressants stop taking them immediately!)

Thank you, I appreciate your comment. I've been overweight since I was a child and I've tried to lose weight but there is not way possible I can get into some of those clothes they have out there. An impossible dream. People are rude and cruel towards overweight people but it's the same kind of discrimination thats shown towards short men or rail thin tall people, or people of a different color....everyones rude towards somebody and it's an epidemic in the US...not sure about other countries. It sucks but we've all gotta get over it.

People can be creeps at times. More than likely, they are insecure about something in their lives or on their body and the best way to distract from that is to make fun of someone else.

Because the sheeple (who are largely visually-influenced creatures,) have been effectively divided, conquered & brainwashed by the idiot box. The effect is typically ingrained during one's school years, however (as evidenced by the post you cited.) Schools are not about teaching, they are about social indoctrination to the "norm," whether it's right or wrong, typically through the use of cruelty & humiliation (a couple of the strongest motivators available.)

Some people just seem to need to hurt others to make them feel better about themselves. It's no longer cool to insult a person's race or sexual orientation, so hating fat people seems to be the last acceptable prejudice.

That is because humans are mean, but not to be mean or anything but their are many people that starve in this world and are hungry and even DIE of hunger while a fat person just eats, well I shouldn't say only a fat person eats. We all eat, well some of us.... What I'm trying to say is that if a fat person wouldn't eat as much and would give some of their food to the needed that would be nice. But, sometimes it's not because of food, It's because of not smoking, etc. I'm not trying to be mean just stating a logical point... Have a great day. I'm sorry that this happends to people but we can't do anything about it, people are mean, nice, rude, greety, etc.
Have a great day! =)
