Hello, I dropped my virago a couple days ago when I forgot to take the dick lock off! haha, silly I know.

Anyway, it fell and petrol starting to leak out of the chrome pod air filters. I picked it up and the leak stopped.

Nothing was really damage for what I can see (just a mirror slightly), I was lucky in that regards and the bike started no probs.... I just want to know, should I be concerned about the petrol that leaked? or does it have some overflow, safety feature which caused this?

Hi this is quite normal, it is the fuel from the carbureter spilling into the air inlet and filter.

It is just what was in the pipe and float chamber. The petrol tap is opened by the vacuum from the engine and hence you won't drain fuel out of the tank (unless you set it to prime, which over rides this).

Likely just fuel coming out of the top of the carbs and out the filter. Not a big issue. I used to have an old dirt bike with an overflow line on the carb, if we transported the bike we had to lay it down on the trailer and prop up that line or the tank would have drained.

I couldnt be specific about a virago but ive had loads of bikes and when ive dropped them or been knocked off by planks in volvos who didnt see me, then theres been petrol leaking out of different places. If you ahvent had any further leaks then I wouldnt worry about it, and as for riding off with the disclock on, done that 3 times myself. Best advice I can give you is to get one of those flourescent spiral string things and attach it to the disclock then the other end to your clutch lever to remind you its on

what happened was when you dropped it the carbs went over and drained some gas .... if you have foam or cloths type air filter remove them and clean and re oil them all will be one with the world
