Yes, I grew up abused and neglected. I married the first man who showed interest in me, even though he is very self-absorbed and narcissistic because anything was better than how I was treated at home. His family was also very mean to me.
When I moved to another city and left everything I had to let my husband get his doctorate, I was alone with two children and no one to help me. I was used to being unprotected and alone, but I met someone at my job that actually was a real friend who helped me any chance they could. It was unbelievable. This person had no idea that I was on the verge of a true mental breakdown. Their kindness stopped my downward spiral. Anyway, it reaffirmed my faith in humanity. It showed me that there are good people out there. I decided to be less defensive and be open to having friends in my life again. It also changed me because now I know that I deserve to be treated well (just like any other human being). I have never been the same and only hope that I can be that for someone in my lifetime.

yes, def. I have.
I'm from Florida so in the wake of a hurricane a few years ago, adn the whole town (small town) was affected by it, my sister and I were ou trying to buy some gas for my car since there was a shortage. It was really really hot at that time, and most everyone was out of power in the balzing heat, and many contruction workers were working feverishly to repair things. ANd as we were driving we saw several cars hand out bottled water and ice to the workers as they sweltered. ANd on the way to the gas station we saw a car which had been broken down and there were two men helping him push his car to the gas station (when they themselves needed to fill up.) It was just great to see people not being selfish in everyones time of need.

When I was younger I was at the beach with my Dad and the tide began to come in. These two little girls were stuck out on a sandbank thing surrounded with the inflooding water. There were teenage boys who were on the beach who swam out to rescue them and brought them back to shore. A dangerous but commendable thing to do. Don't know if I'd say it changed me but I always remember it and it makes you realise that not all people are evil after all.

When you talk about truck drivers, you're talking about snarly, rough, and independent! One day when I was sitting in My truck, the wind was blowing very, very, hard, making it hard to tarp our loads! One driver was trying to tarp, and the wind blew his tarp right off the truck! Well, wouldn't you know it, 5 other truck drivers that were there tarping, came over to the driver, and helped him get his tarp, back on his truck, a;nd helped him finish tarping, including me! And this set a new outlook on,"it's not what appears on the outside, but it's what's inside the heart that counts!
