That is an excellent point. and certainly congress benefits when we focus our attention on other things like who is in the WH or who is running for the WH.
My proposed solution is a retroactive two term limit on congress, that will solve that problem quickly.
Gee I am beginning to sound like a broken record.

Quite the opposite. When Americans START fighting each other--when they are actively involved in the issues and politics of the day--is when politicians have to listen.
Its when--as in the late eighties and ninties--that Americans get complacent and let the government go its own way, that we get the likes of the Bush regime. Why do you think any form of dissent frightens them so much--or why they try to keep everything they do secret from the people?
A healthy democracy is a shouting match. When there's no shouting, then is the time to fear for your freedom.

I think the tone of this forum is precisely why American politics are in the state it is. There is a lot of hot air on here, with nothing meaningful actually being said. We have set the stage for American politics to be the way it is.

Sure, they practice 'divide and conquer' because if we ever quit fighting among ourselves maybe we could put the politicians back in their place and restore some sanity to the Country.

I do. And it's sad to see how many fall for it. If we could come to the conclusion they all stink then maybe we the people could get something done. I am a liberal they tell me but I think the dems are as sad as the pubs. There must be a better way.

I believe that many of us are very frustrated with all of our present politicians and we come here to let out a lot of steam.

The politicians can't do anything they want. They have the voters to answer to, BUT lobbyists' voices are stronger than the voter's voices.

Yes I have said so myself so many times it is somewhat tiresome repeating it. The real question is will the people who agree with this question actually change their pathetically closed minded, politically persuaded thinking and do something about it? I think not.
